Just for the record, I got one of his emails, too, and never even posted in one of the same threads, AFIK, much less had any direct interaction with him.
Equally for the record, no one “did” anything to “cause him” to do anything. People are responsible for their own choices.
If it’s appropriate, I’m wondering if we could have a link to the banning incident. I know the guy has a one track mind, and I didn’t read much of his posts, but he didn’t strike me as blatantly hostile, but then I haven’t checked any JDT threads in a while.
Think, people. JDT MUST have a computer with the optional Microsoft Foreskin™ software, making it immune to all known viruses. The Mods, naturally, have the far more common CIRC™ OS, which leaves them vurlnerable to all sorts of things. He didn’t even know he was passing it on!
And here I’ve passed this thread by sooo many times thinking "ha, someone make that subject line to see how many views it would get, and the post is just gonna say “gotcha! KNew you’d look! Haha!” but finally curiosity got the better of me… and it turns out I was just being paranoid! LOL
Bringing the total number of bumps so far in this thread to an astounding 23!!
Maybe it’s cause we don’t get to bump that often (well i don’t at least) and it’s so much fun!! Small things amuse small minds i guess…
The customers at the ISP I work for have mixed results with this program for removing Kak. Some more information about this virus:
[ul]
[li]It activates on the first of every second or third month, not allowing you to run any programs. (We had an outbreak of customers with it in July, August, and November, all on the first.) If you get pop-ups reading “Kuago-Anti-Kar$oft says ‘Not Today’”, you’ve got the worm.[/li][li]You can try removing it by going into your registry editor and deleting all references to the worm’s .hta file. (And if you can’t access the registry program, you probably shouldn’t be in it anyway… :))[/li][li]Outlook Express 4.0 is seemingly immune to the virus. I have never heard of someone with OLE4 receiving it. (Part of the reason I don’t upgrade)[/li][/ul]
I use Agent, from forteinc.com They have a free version but its worth buying. It’s bullet proof against trojans & viruses that come in email. It also stores all outgoing & incoming email forever, if you want, & its basically a newsgroup reader.
“I use Agent, from forteinc.com They have a free version but its worth buying. It’s bullet proof against trojans & viruses that come in email.”
Bullet proof? You’d have to be pretty naive to think that. If the email recipient is tricked in to opening an exe file, there is virtually no limit to what it can do, including running ms-dos and inserting the command:
format c:\
As for whether or not it can open your email program and then send emails to everyone on your list, well, the PENTAGON has been hacked before.
You think free email software is immune?
There are some very intelligent coders out there. Beware.
