Warts: when the cure is worse than the disease

Aside from the fact that I won’t be able to sleep through the night ever again after reading your post, I’m curious…how’s the ol’ gag reflex these days?

Holy cow.

I’ve switched to duct tape today. The wart (and a quarter sized area around it) is far too senstive to work on right now (cutting it off) so I’m leaving it until the weekend when some of it heals. I’m going to take a bath (something I don’t do) and read Harry Potter to get nice and pruney. I should be able to remove a big chunk of it.

Too bad it’s on a “hard to reach” area of my foot. It’s pretty annoying to even wash, let alone cut.

Thanks for all the help folks! Even you guys with the horrible stories. Lynn Bodoni, no offense, but I’m not ever going to shake your hand if we meet

I used the acid method on mine (I dont know if duct tape only would be different) but one day while scraping the entire yucky white crusty area tore loose from the rest of my foot, so I gave it a mighty scrape and the wart and dead tissue came out. I was left with about a 1/2" diameter hole that was maybe 1/6" or so deep. No it isn’t any fun at all, but it’ll heal up.

Hope you get it out of there soon, I remember how painful they are well.

About a year ago I read about the duct tape cure here in the SDMB, before that I had had about 4-5 warts under my feet, one was about half an inch in diameter and made it really uncomfortable to walk or stand on my feet.
I had lived with the large one for atleast 3 years.

After about 2 weeks of duct tape the large one had begun to go away and the small ones where pretty much gone. One more week and I where wart free and I still am to this day.

I can not express the relief I felt when I realised that they had finally gone away, I had begun to think that this was something I’d have to live with for a long long time.

So - thank you SDMB for making my life better
