Yes, he did. He was known to have kidney and heart disease, and got it from a transfusion during open heart surgery in the early 1980s. The truth was not revealed, IIRC at his request, until about 10 years after his death.
Arthur Ashe got AIDS the same way. 
Both were before there was any way to test donated blood for HIV, which was not even known to exist in the first place until 1985.

FIRST - the simpler possibility of how he contracted AIDS (not HIV, but AIDS and then DIED) could have been from his lifestyle. Although he was not a drug user and certainly not an intravenous drug user who may have had a dirty needle, he MAYBE, however, was bangin’ some chick from South Central or Watts or Compton or some ghetto and she may have been a user and addict who probably didnt even know she was living with AIDS and Easy-E, being the reported ladies’ man, may have just slept with an infected woman with advanced AIDS.
BUT TRUTHFULLY - he was NOT gay. “fag” and other references to gay sex was widely used in rap lyrics and only became a “big deal” when Eminem came on scene… The fact that EasyE died of AIDS makes that thought go thru everyone’s mind but it was in fact SUGE KNIGHT…hell, he killed that dude on the movie set of Straight Out of Compton with a million witnesses … he didnt care. He cared that Ruthless Records was a possible competitor to Suge’s Death Row Records and he couldn’t have that. He wanted total control of the West Coast gangsta rap monies. After all, Suge Knight also had his star of Death Row killed, TUPAC. Think about this, Tupac had body guards, after the Tyson fight Suge Knight convinced Tupac to forget about anyone else including the bodyguards and to ride with him to a party…so away Suge and Tupac went, alone…and Tupac was in the front seat next to Suge. NOW HERES THE CONVINCING PART (besides the fact that Suge was a TRUE HARDCORE GANGSTER who had such wealth that he put LAPD officers on his payroll and it almost is known fact that the trigger man for Tupac’s killing was Suge Knight’s LAPD off-duty cop friend Reggie White Jr. “head of security” for Death Row who always wore RED to show his allegiance with the street gang, the Bloods. Well think this thru, Tupac was rotting in jail in NJ and along comes this intimidating dude from the West who says “I can get you out on bail TODAY (because no one else could raise the money) as long as you sign this contract on this napkin stating that I am taking you back to California and you will be a Death Row artist and renounce your East Coast heritage… So Tupac did and while out on bail his first recorded song for Suge and Death Row was CALIFORNIA LOVE with Dr. Dre in 1995. Mind you, Death Row was fast becoming a dynasty, and 1995 is when Easy E died. This was the height of Suge Knight’s gangster ways because now he had hundreds of millions of dollars to back up his 6’3” 275lbs intimidation factor.
Well, Ruthless Records (Easy E’s label) was hot and making sick records and started strong never letting up…this was a problem because Suge wanted ALL ARTISTS to sign with his label… And Easy E was happy to feed into the beef with his former NWA pals and Death Row Records and draw battle lines with lyrics like “motherfuck Snoop motherfuck Dre motherfuck DEATH ROW” and now talented rappers were signing with Ruthless while Suge wanted every artist on Death Row…so, he got rid of Easy E and in turn Ruthless Records, his main competition at the time…and he eliminated EasyE FAST.
THEN the next year, 1996, after Suge had Easy E eliminated, Tupac was openly talking about finishing with Death Row and starting his own label; Suge had to stop that before it even took root.
Tupac running a label and signing talented artists would have made Suge Knight a footnote of the 1990s.
There was already a ton of turmoil drama and real problems within Death Row and Tupac was excited to be on his way out of that label… So, when Tupac and Suge were leaving the Tyson fight in Vegas, Suge got Tupac alone in the front seat of a car that everyone around saw that he was inside of…no protection as Suge had all bodyguards and everyone called off leaving only the 2 of them in the car… and TUPAC, a little dude, only 5’9" and 167lbs sitting inches from Suge Knight who was HUGE at 6’3" 275 lbs and was a mere few inches away from Tupac in the car while Suge was driving, they came to a red light on Las Vegas Boulevard and next to them at the light came a white 4-door Cadillac and from the BACK SEAT an arm (with the signature red suit that Suge’s LAPD friend always wore) an arm extended out and shot a series of rapid fire shots into the car where Tupac and Suge were sitting immediately next to one another. Shakur was hit four times, twice in the chest, once in the arm, and once in the thigh. One of the bullets went into Shakur’s right lung.
Small Tupac was pierced with bullet holes and yet the MASSIVE MAN, Suge Knight, sitting 2 inches from little Tupac was not hit by a single bullet… he was “grazed” by a bullet that ricocheted off something (think, rug burn…he wasn’t even injured!) – now Tupac was dying, and Suge Knight need not worry about Tupac starting an empire that would be in competition with Death Row. Suge even said FROM PRISON on (I believe) 60 Minutes that, when he was asked “If you knew who shot your friend, Tupac Shakur, would you ever tell who it was?” Suge laughed and straight up said “I dont know. But even if I did I wouldn’t ever tell no one!” (meaning he set the hit up.) Here are the 2 videos. Also, while rare, penis-in-vagina sex with a woman who has HIV can result in an HIV infection in heterosexual men. Men who have lots and lots of sex with women while not having sex with men are increasing their risk of having a sexual encounter with a woman who has HIV and such men can certainly get HIV.
The notion that men who get HIV MUST be gay is pernicious and dangerous - while I understand that promiscuous heterosexual men like to think that by not having sex with other men they are somehow protected from HIV they aren’t. I’m sure there are many men who find this out the hard way and have to deal with the consequences the rest of their lives, which is tragic when it could have been avoided.
