Here’s another vote for the short style… from my female POV. The long looks good, but the short looks better.
Straight female here, and I like the longer hair better. The short hair gives me a Bill Haverchuck vibe. (Sorry.)

A couple of weeks ago at my 14 year old nephew’s graduation party, I noticed the long-ish hair trend amongst his friends and him.
I’m a straight, 30-something female, I like the short hair. I’ve always been attracted to guys with short hair and receding hairlines anyway. Hubbybunny is losing his hair and I’ve been trying to convince him to bite the bullet and get it buzzed. 
Was it dumb for you to cut your hair? I dunno. Did you want to cut your hair? Are you pleased with having shorter hair? Then no, it wasn’t dumb, regardless of whether people think you look better or worse.
You look good with short hair, but even better with long hair.
I like the long hair, but I just like long hair in general. You remind me of Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 with the long hair. Both ways look good.
Wow, thanks for all the responses. To be honest I wasn’t looking to stroke my ego but I guess that’s a bonus of asking.
I think it’s interesting to see the mixed responses, to be honest, from my friends reactions I expected a landslide towards long hair, but apparently not.
Perhaps further responses will prove otherwise.
I think the short hair is better, I am a straight male also in Ga coincidentally and I just got my hair cut really short too and it is so much better looking also dries in a second screw the naysayers.

I like the glasses, they suit your face nicely.
Dumb? No, if you’re getting the convenience of having shorter hair/less mirror time.
But who really cares about long or short, ya know? It’s all about if you rock in bed or not…

Transition lenses will change faster as they get a little older (2-3 weeks).
ronin, I thought you looked way too much like you were auditioning for Semisonic with long hair. The short look is way better. I’m a straight dude, though, so what do I know?
You look like a hipster with the longer hair, and a frat boy with the shorter hair.
You’re pretty hot either way, but you’re more my type with the longer. 
You look good both ways, but I especially like the long hair. Very attractive. However, you might as well keep the hair short to keep you cool for summer for now (and trim around the front a bit, it looks slightly uneven), and then you can grow it out for the winter if you so desire.
