Was Kurt Colbain gay?

I’m not an avid fan, and know little of his* life. But I’ve always liked the music, and Nirvana is one the bands that when they come on the radio I crank it up. Lotsa talent, IMO. Too bad, I guess.
Anyway, I based my question mostly on that song, and on the rare interview I saw or heard. I have many homosexual friends, male and female, and the tone of his words, especially in that version, sounded familiar. Also he was, as he said, quite pretty.
Is there a credible biography anyone can reccommend?
*I’ve heard him, on a couple of occasions, say that the music was Nirvana’s.
BTW; what’s all this bitterness towards Ms. Love? It can’t simply be her appearance, can it?

Apparently Kurt had a depressingly obsessive (and largely unrequited) love for Tobi Vail of Bikini Kill before he met Courtney, and, of course, “About A Girl” is, indeed, about a girl.

I think the guy was just in such mental anguish most of the time that he didn’t know what he was about. This is not to say misery makes you gay, but rather because his misery was so interwoven with his relationships with women, it may have caused him to question things about himself most folks wouldn’t. I doubt the guy was really gay or even much bi. I bet if you asked him if he was human, he would have answered with uncertainty.

Some claimed his heroin addiction was not just about self-medicating for his mental demons, but also about trying to get relief from the chronic pain of irritable bowel syndrome.

You’ve jumbled some lyrics. It’s “In the sun I feel as one,” then “Married/buried.” And the last line is “All in all is all we all are.”

Her skankiness aside, she’s supposedly a psycho bitch.

Some say she used Kurt’s fame to boost her lack of talent.

Of course, some also say she had Kurt whacked.

I wouldn’t go as far as that last. However, the first two are supposedly true. Kurt was (though I wasn’t a fan at the time) an extremely talented songwriter and performer. Courtney’s talents ran mostly to famewhoring, shocking exploits and an extremely modest acting ability. Kurt was her ticket to fame, simply from association. Her downward spiral since his death is proof of this. Except for one or two minor acting gigs, she’s mostly famous for being a hardcore junkie and skank ho who’s lost her child to either more responsible family members or the authorities multiple times. About the only thing that separates her from most of the utter trash parents I used to type up casenotes about when I worked for Children & Youth is the fact that her name is familiar to more people.

Does anyone know if there’s any truth to the rumor that Kurt wrote a lot of Love’s “Live Through This” album?

A lot of the riffs and lyrical refrains on the album sound very Cobain-esque but I think she denied that he had any input.

I doubt it, too. Why would she kill her meal ticket? Without Cobain, she’s just another bored out junkie whore.

Nah. In the “unplugged” release he for sure say’s “All alone is all we are”. He even slows down and say’s it clearly (for him) in the last repitition. I’ve listened very closely to it because there is some arguement about the line.
One version of the lyrics is here. Also, read the line “in the sun, in the sun I’m married”. Then he say’s “buried” in the next line.

I’ve heard it enough times myself, I just disagree. I still have my original copy of In Utero on tape, which includes the lyrics and puts them as I wrote.

I’m never detected an “I’m” there. Even if there was one, the fact that it’s usually the other line refutes the interpretation in your first post.

I hope its not nitpicky to mention that his name was Cobain not Colbain.

From what I have read, Courtney has custody back of her daughter.
