Gated communities are pretty commonplace in Florida and don’t really signify “nice area” like they do up north.
All three apartment complexes I lived at in Florida were “gated” and they weren’t all that fancy.
If Zimmerman is the aggressor, then Stand Your Ground no longer applies. If the fight continues, he must either retreat if possible or say, “I give up; I don’t want to fight anymore” before he can resort to deadly force. Even then, he must reasonably believe he is in danger of death or serious bodily harm.
The ones we have here in Michigan that look like that are more to limit access to people from crusing through and stealing from cars. Zillow shows it as a neighborhood of 3 bedroom, 2 bath condos listing for $80-95K; not upscale, but not overly poor either.
So for the SYG defense they’re talking about for Zimmerman to be legally viable, he would have to show that Martin started the altercation or that he asked for mercy and Martin continued to hit him and that he reasonably thought Martin was going to kill or seriously injure him? That sounds far more sensible and just than I was afraid it might be, considering the circumstances.
Who care’s about what you call the fence or how tall it is?
If it was one of those all too common “flash mobs” that attacked the poor innocent darling, this wouldnt be a story. There would be no Obama and crew race rushing to out-race bait each other. There would be no black panthers offering rewards to apprehend a guy who is already following the legal system. Al Sharpton would be at home lookin’ at porn.
There’s a lot of buzz and high emotion flying around, and it’s a shame because one was black and one was non-black we have to go through the nonsense from the usual agitators and the usual media bs. Who wants to bet when this blows over because they determine the deceased provoked the situation, those who caused the biggest stir will just vanish in the background without being held accountable. Obama will not be held accountable. They’ll sit and wait and pop out for the next show and we’ll do it all over again - and again.
Anyway the OP is irrelevant. The guy on the bottom was being attacked and shot the fool in the hoodie. That’s bywitness account to the police. Lots of sourcing out there to choose from.
The 911 call confirms Zimmerman in the background as the person yelling for help.
I wonder why the media kept pushing pics of little Trayvon instead of the posin’ thug wannabe that illustrated his “grown up” look. Any takers?
Um, just what should Obama be held accountable for here?
I suppose that’s possible. There are a number of possibilities for how things went from the deceased walking along with the shooter following him in a car to the shooter on the ground with the deceased beating the tar out of him, and as yet we don’t really know which of those possibilities is the truth. But it strikes me as far more likely that the guy who thinks a black guy just walking down the street is “suspicious”, who is on tape muttering something that sounds like “fucking coons” when calling about said suspicious black guy, who was following said black guy despite specific instructions from emergency services not to do that instigated the physical confrontation than the teenager walking home from the corner store.
Being Canadian, this whole thing seems absurd to me. Maybe gun control isn’t such a bad idea. Illegal firearms will always find their way into the country with or without gun control. Gangsters and thugs of all colours will alway have their guns. Yes, I know Zimmerman’s was permitted. Maybe some serious restrictions should apply to firearms in the U.S. as they do here.
If everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty, why is vigilante justice permitted, especially on a feeling, with no evidence of any crime (from what I’ve heard so far) from Trayvon?
I don’t know where Trayvon was, a yard or the street. Doesn’t matter. There were some hooligans on my lawn one time. I yelled at them and they ran away.
You mean this picture?
MODERATOR WARNING!
[bolding was mine]. “THE OP IS IRRELEVANT.” WTF? How is the OP irrelevant? Your response was irrelevant to this thread. Don’t do this again.

Thats only one of the pictures.
What about the others, furthermore they fail to provide proof..
The case is suspect from the start, why would a family use such old photos to begin with if there was nothing to hide, if you start with deception who are we to trust.
All I see is insinuations that the pictures are fake, but the original page has been blocked, and may have been cleansed. Its rather odd for someone not to have pictures online, even if his own page is blocked, you tend to appear in friends and familys face book page pictures, whats the point of having a face book page if you have no face book friends or family after all…
This case has so many questions…
We don’t yet know all the details of what happened. What’s certain is the Zimmerman did two things he should not have done: follow the boy, and get out of his car.
I guess it’s not news that an idiot did something stupid. What is news, and what gets people so pissed off, is that given what we know, Zimmerman was not arrested immediately. Everyone knows that if it was a white kid who got shot, his ass would have been in jail within minutes.
That’s the true problem here.
The agitators keep forgetting – or just ignoring – the fact that Zimmerman was injured when police found him. There had obviously been a fight of some sort. If Martin attacked Zimmerman, then Zimmerman might have legitimately been in fear of his life.
Correct. This isn’t a black vs hispanic incident. It’s simply one of thousands of incidents in which a criminal assaulted a law-abiding citizen.
From: Trayvon Martin case gives Change.org a boost -- and vice versa
"As Florida braced itself for what could be the biggest day of protest yet in the Trayvon Martin case, police revealed new details that depict the slain 17-year-old as the aggressor and appear to support George Zimmerman’s claim that he was acting in self-defense when he shot the teenager.
[…]
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that police sources say Martin was the aggressor on Feb. 26, knocking Zimmerman to the ground with a single punch and then climbing on top of the 28-year-old neighborhood watch captain and slamming the back of his head into the ground. Police say this account, given by Zimmerman, is supported by eyewitnesses, according to the Sentinel’s report.
One such witness reportedly told police that he saw Martin on top of Zimmerman, striking the man, while Zimmerman cried out for help. The attack left Zimmerman bloodied, police sources told the Sentinel, and led him to fire at Martin in self-defense.
Police say Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose, had a fat lip and confirm that the back of his head was cut. He received first aid at the scene but refused to go to the hospital and received medical treatment the following day, according to the Sentinel’s sources."
Re the usual race hustlers and agitators: See Tawana Brawley, Duke, etc…
What led to the situation where Martin and Zimmerman were in close enough proximity so that Martin could punch Zimmerman? Doesn’t the eyewitness description cover that part? Who approached whom? If I were either one of them, and the other one approached me, I would feel threatened.
I believe this may be the latest picture.
Also there is an un edited version of all the 911 calls (34 minutes long) including Zimmerman’s call. If anyone is interested I can find it.
First time posting, long time reader. Please forgive me… I am not yet sure how to make a link.
So where are these “other” pictures that are so damning? If you have seen them please link to them.
Hardly… my point was that “black guy” and “suspicious individual” are not mutually exclusive. Apparently “believe it or not” was too snarky.
Since it seems the question in the OP has been answered, and this thread has extended to other aspects of the case, it’s probably time to move this over to GD.

Yea, I think that was the part that triggered the reaction. Apologies.
But of course I realize that a person can be both black and suspiscious. I only said “stopped when he saw a black guy” to suggest that Zimmerman has trouble distinguishing the two. (Based on his conversation to the 911 operator and his previous calls to the police).
I don’t think that a person wearing a hoodie in the rain is suspiscious at all. Walking slowly? C’mon, is that really what mattered to him? Doesn’t seem like it.
Yes, please.
