Was Stewart's/Colbert's rally racist because there were no nonwhites?

Except that there is evidence of it. The Tea Party is a direct result of conservatives dissatisfied with government spending toward the end of the Bush administration. McCain was not the candidate of choice for Conservatives and was routinely criticized.

What you don’t understand is that conservatives are not all Republicans. Many Democrats are fiscally conservative as well as independents.

Whether you like it or not there are people who recognize $13,667,427,997,612 as a real number. What is it now? The only way to read it is to screen capture the number as it flies by.

Look at the Gross Debt to Gross National Product ratio.

I have been disheartened for a while, I fully admit.

But I had high hopes for the Dope. I really hoped that those on the hard left and those on the hard right here would watch/attend the Rally, and remember what we are supposed to be doing here (Fighting Ignorance), and would maybe realize that meeting in the middle is what grownups do.

Maybe I’m hoping for things to go faster than they should?

The problem isn’t the lack of minorities. The problem is y’all apparently don’t know what minorities look like.

In slide one, I can see at least three men in the background who are of a non-white skin tone. It’s blurry, so I’m only sure of one being black. The ethnicity of the others is questionable. There may be pale Hispanics or Asians as well.

In slide two, I see the backs of heads. Hard to tell ethnicity from that.

In slide three, lots of backs of heads again and it’s dark. Those in the foreground all appear to be white.

In slide four, again we’re not seeing many faces. The two faces I can see clearly appear to be western European.

In slide five, white girl.

In slide six, a huge crowd of people of many different hues, all too small and blurry to see clearly.

In slide seven, backs of heads and some visible white people.

In slide eight, I counted nine clearly and obviously non-white people. Since the faces are small and a lot of sunglasses were worn, obscuring their features, I have no way of knowing how many more may have been Asian or Hispanic.

In slide nine, there’s a Jew.

In slide ten, a Jew and an Irishman.

In slide eleven, a black guy and a Jew and a Muslim Brit.

In slide twelve, Ozzy.

In slide thirteen, Abe Lincoln and a voting machine.

In slide fourteen, I see a couple Asians in the background, some whites and a few folks who may be Hispanic.

In slide fifteen, I see some white people, a woman of darker coloring whose face is blocked by a sign, and a gentleman who looks Hispanic or possibly a lighter skinned African American.

In slide sixteen, some white people and backs of heads.

In slide seventeen, me.

In slide eighteen, a group of mostly white people though I can clearly see some folks who look Hispanic and a black woman.

In slide nineteen, some white people, an Asian woman, a black guy, and a Middle Eastern man.

In slide twenty, a black woman and the backs of heads.

In slide twenty-one, a black guy, a Muslim woman, and some white people.

In slide twenty-two, Satan and the backs of heads.

In slide twenty-three, Satan, white people.

In slide twenty-four, some white people, a black woman, an Asian man, and a man whose face I can’t see clearly but he looks like he might be Hispanic.

In slide twenty-five, backs of heads, a white lady.

In slide twenty-six, white guy and it looks like there’s a black woman and a Hispanic man in the background.

In slide twenty-seven, those whose faces I can see clearly are white.

In slide twenty-eight, white people, other people whose faces I can’t see clearly.

In slide twenty-nine, the few faces I can see clearly here are white.

In slide thirty, a gentleman who looks to be of mixed race is holding a sign. I can’t tell if he’s white and Native American or white and Asian.

In slide thirty-one, white kid.

In slide thirty-two, white women.

In slide thirty-three, a sign.

Plenty of the people who look white may be Jewish or white Hispanic or Muslim. Minority status isn’t by skin color alone. Just because somebody isn’t black doesn’t mean they’re a WASP.

Stewart has been in hack mode for awhile. He must lurrve Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer. Sure, they’re blood thirsty reptilian monsters, but their tone! So reasonable and down to earth.

I am willing to consider evidence offered, but I will never, never again consider anything related to Breitbart to be evidence. That man has worked to earn his reputation, and I intend to recognize his work in the appropriate manner.

No, but my point was not, as some seem to have taken it to be, that Stewart, Colbert, and their supporters are racists. My point was that, contrary to what some have asserted in this thread, the tea partiers, Glenn Beck supporters, attendees at that Sarah Palin book signing, etc., were called racist solely on the basis of news footage showing an almost entirely white crowd, and that this charge is bogus because leftists aren’t calling the Stewart/Colbert rally racist for the same reason. (You can protest “I was there and saw lots of nonwhites” all you want; it doesn’t change my point, because, again, news photos alone were cited as prima facie evidence that the right-wing rallyers were racists.)

So far, the rejoinders in this thread seem to fall into one of two camps:

  1. Deny that right-wing rallyers were called racists on the basis of photos showing that they were mostly white, and
  2. Assert that it’s different with right-wing rallies, because we already know they’re racists, because they’re conservatives.

I wonder then if you could explain to me the timing of the Tea Party Protests. Why did these conservatives not rise up when GW Bush was running the deficit up from 56.4% of GDP to 83.4% of GDP ???

Explain this timing to me please:
January 20, 2009 - Obama Inauguration
January 24, 2009 -first tea party protest
Why did the Tea Party conservatives just find out about fiscal responsibility on January 24, 2009, 4 days after Obama’s Inauguration?

If Liberals really cared what argumentatively hurts Conservatives they’d stop knee-jerking racism. There are racist Conservatives but you don’t have to be racist to be Conservative and I’m increasingly getting the feeling I’m alone here on that.

What fucking kills me is why no Tea Partiers ran in 2006 while Bush was running up the largest debt increase our nation has ever seen. No, it was only in 2010 two years after Democrats took power, but thats just a coincidence.

Not solely, or even significantly. There’s also the ample N-word signs, the manufactured fear of “illegal immigrants”, the blanket condemnation of Muslims, and the harping on the “Kenyan” stuff that is equally transparent in its true meaning. Did all of that escape your notice?

They didn’t run in 2006 because the popular movement hadn’t solidified yet. As has been repeatedly pointed out there was a great deal of objections to the spending in the last years of Bush. It didn’t help Democrats to come into office and spend like drunken sailors. They are not running on their achievements this election.

The debt has increased by 308 million since post 121. and thats less than 2 hrs apart.

Hello! You seem to be missing my posts.

How come the Tea party folk were not having any rallies when GW Bush was running the deficit from 56.4% of GDP to 83.4% of GDP? Were they waiting for their movement to solidify? Where were the popular rallies against the “spending in the last years of Bush”?

Was Fox News (a major proponent of the Tea Party Rallies btw) at the forefront of these “objections” to Bush’s spending in the last years of his administration? Because they sure seemed to get on board after January 20, 2009 for some odd reason.

Do you think it’s possible, just maybe a teensy bit possible that some of the 308 million increase in the debt in the past 2 hours might (just might, mind you) be partly due to the fact that Obama inherited a deficit that was 83.4% of GDP? And that he began his term trying to get the country out of a huge financial crisis that he also inherited from his predecessor? And is it possible that it’s sort of a bit difficult to turn the economic situation around in the time frame we’re talking about (1 year, 10 months)?

Or is the 308 million in the last 2 hours 100% his responsibility? Should he have been able to reduce the deficit from 83.4% of GDP , back down to 56.4% of GDP in less than 2 years?

Dunno, could have been the promise of running up the debt with useless pork. Another 18 million just flew by.

Ah, so the Obama administration padded the budget full of useless pork, unlike previous administrations that were so lean and efficient?

So this whole “pork” thing of wasting money… is that a new invention by the Democrats? And the Tea Partiers were aghast when they found out about this "pork on January 24, 2009, 4 days after the inauguration?

Hey, c’mon share! Where can the rest of us buy Breitbart imprinted toilet tissue?

Oh, hey, look at that: wikipedia has the Federal 2010 spending by category. How convenient.

Which categories did Obama pork up to give you some random millions of dollars of extra debt numbers to toss around? I’m all for getting rid of useless pork – where do you wanna start? Some place to actually make a difference… Social security, DoD, Medicare?

Fiscal Conservatives were apparently in a coma when George W. Bush rammed through the 7.2 trillion* dollar unfunded liability called Medicare Part D , but when the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was being passed (which is deficit neutral, by the way), the usual suspects went into apoplectic fits of rage. That is why it’s so hard for me to take the Tea Party movement seriously.

*No that’s not a typo, that’s trillion with a fricking T.

No, Medicare Part D was okay with the usual suspects because it had a donut hole. Mmm, donut hole.
