Was the attendance at the June 14 USA Parade lower than hoped for?

When did the NPS resume official crowd size estimates?

As far as I can tell, they started doing it sometime in the 60s or 70s until Congress approved an appropriations bill that denied NPS funding for crowd counts because of the MMM controversy and they haven’t given official estimates since.

They didn’t because they have no funding to do so.

If not TFG directly, his administration claimed 250,000:

There in spirit, presumably.

This report from the Votemaster:

Doesn’t try to estimate the crowd, but goes with estimates of under 100,000. But more to the point it includes a photo of Trump in which he looks bored to tears and half asleep. There is also a photo of a nearly empty grandstand. The link includes the following quote:

" On the whole, the politicians wanted nothing to do with the parade. A few Republicans were in attendance, and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) was sitting just a few feet from Trump on the reviewing stand, but most of the red team found a reason to be out of town for the weekend. A sizable number of Democrats headed home to join the “No Kings” protests, and the rest made themselves scarce. We only saw one Democratic member of Congress who had something positive to say about the parade, and you already know exactly who it was. Here’s Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA):

This parade is comprised of our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers—the very best of us.

Regardless of your politics, it’s appropriate to celebrate the 250 years of sacrifice, dedication and service."

Never mind. Inappropriate for FQ.

That’s not to the point at all, at least for this thread.
