Do you think, given your personality, that you would have done well had you been there?
I doubt that I would have been aggressive enough. I’m not easy to push around, but I’m not very pushy either. Whether miner or merchant, I think one would have to been very sure of ones self, and ready to impose on others. I’d have probably been a good manager for one of the successful merchants and done pretty well in that. As long as I didn’t have to shoot anyone. 
I smile, but that was a real possibility then.
Try to imagine actually being there. Today’s rules and situations matter little.
