A few years back I had a business trip to Copenhagen, and I was able to spend a weekend in the city. I visited the famous amusement park called “Tivoli”. I found it very charming, because it reminded me of the smaller amusement parks of my youth. It is also very beautiful at night, being lit up by thoiusands of colored lights!
Anyway, the visitors handbook mentioned that Walt Disney visited Tivoli several times, before launchoing his own amusement park (Disneyland). Is this true?
By the way (for all you Danish SD’ers), I hope Tivoli is doing well-I’d like to come back some day!
I’d heard that Disneyland was an outgrowth of Disney’s backyard railroad (he was a miniature RR nut).
Interesting the way you phrased your title. I always thought Disney World was inspired by Disney Land. But I suppose Disney World has been around for so long that a lot of people think it’s the original!
But I can well imagine that the answer to your question is yes.
Yes it’s true. This from “Walt Disney : An American Original” by Bob Thomas :
[nitpick]
Disneyland = Anaheim, CA
Walt Disney World = Orlando, FL
