Was this a George Carlin joke?

My brother and I are arguing over whether or not a joke was done by Geroge Carlin or a different comedian.

The joke is you’re driving your friend’s car with him in the passenger seat, you go to use the turn signal and you hit it way too hard and break it, and all you can say is, “Oh, look at that, that broke right off! You’ll have to get a new one of these” (was funnier than it sounds).

Anyway, my brother insists it was a Carlin bit from one of his many HBO specials in the 80s. I remember it being a different HBO special with a not-so-famous Vegas comedian (don’t remember his name).

Ring any bells?

I’m pretty sure I heard Carlin do that bit. I think that was from either his Carlin at Carnegie or Carlin on Campus, from the early/mid 80’s.

Oh, and I believe the set-up was driving somebody else’s car that has the turn signal where you expect the gearshift to be, causing you to rip the thing right out when you try to back out of the driveway.

Yeah, It’s George. Had all those albums in the way back when.
