Was this lady on the juice?

Jarmila Kratochvilova holds the record for the women’s 800m, made in 1983, a record which still stands today.
Here

She passed all drug tests, but…the eye test is a tad…
What do dopers think.

I legit thought it was a dude, can’t be the only one.

Who wasn’t on the juice then?
(likely a very few)

Yeah, you have to suspect everybody. But then it would have been a fair competition wouldn’t it? Should the record stand though? Well, without any evidence that she was doping it has to, it’s bad enough the record will always be suspect.

Athletes from Warsaw Pact countries (Kratochvilova was from Czechoslovakia) were particularly likely to be suspected of it in the '70s and '80s, as well.

It’s not fair to future athletes who are far more regulated and do not have the opportunity to set records through natural progression. Training (and racing regimes and philosophies evolve with which enables a gradual improvement in performance.

Just being snarky about everyone doping at the time. Obviously there were a lot of unfair competitions at the time.

Yes, but she seems to have had a lot more pumped into her.
She looks more ripped than Caitlyn Jenner was. Back when she was Bruce and at her peak.

It’s fun to look at the women’s shot put. The first mark of 21.00 meters was in 1972, then the decade distribution of outdoor marks that are 21.00 m or greater looks like:
1970s 121
1980s 193
1990s 10
2000s 3
2010s 3

Man that’s weird.

Kratochvilova’s great rival was Marita Koch from East Germany, who still holds the world record for 400m, also set in 1983 (Kratochvilova has the 2nd fastest ever time). Following the collapse of the Communist Bloc in 1989 and the release of various government documentation, they discovered a letter by Koch complaining that other athletes were getting preferential treatment from the State pharmaceutical company - ie - more and better drugs.

Moderating

This is incredibly inappropriate, on multiple levels. From misogyny and transgender perspectives to start with. But I think it can pretty neatly summed up as “jerkish.”

Warning issued.
