Referencing this closed thread, did not The Aristocrats recently win rave reviews for its enterainment value exploring this same subject?
How can it be reasoned one is kosher for examination in Cafe Society and the other not? Whole idea just too gross?
“The Aristocrats” is a longstanding joke going back to the vaudeville era and as such the movie is framed by the history of the story. It’s also a rite of passage of professional comedy and everybody has their own version. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if it predated vaudeville or beyond that, even; there may have been a two-act with guys in togas going In Colisevm a gladiator ingredior . . .
It’s not gross-out for the sake of being gross; there’s more to the story than that. If all you see is the filth, then you have missed the point entirely.
The “gross out” thread closed in Cafe Society was just that, an attempt to be gross for the sake of being gross. Inappropriate for the forum, too. Apples and oranges.
Okay, maybe road apples and oranges.
Tell you what; make a movie out of it and we’ll consider reopening the thread, okay?
