Watch Bald Eagle eggs hatch

A bit more feeding. The runt still seems to be getting the raw end of the food deal.

wow. I think they just brought back a crow and a fish!

Papa just showed up and dropped off a dead bird- looks like it might be a crow. Then he flew off and came back with a small fish!

Edit: he had bits of meat and feathers hanging from his beak. Now he’s gone again.

You beat me to it, Big Blue!

I wonder how stocked they will get! It must be pretty awesome to watch an eagle catch a fish.

There is a regular buffet in that nest now… babies have their choice between red meat, seafood or poultry!

I was getting worried about that wayward chick too and awwwww’ed out loud when mama managed to pull it back under her!

which of the two (male or female) as the feather sticking straight up?

Dad is on the nest right now, he’s the one that is always fidgiting with the nest. Mom iscalmer and seems to sleep more.

That was the female. The male is on the nest now.

Beat me to it, PapSett!

He’s trying to feed it chunks of meat bigger than the chick’s head!

Edit: Wait a minute, I think that’s Mama again.

Nice buffet on the near side of the nest. Fish, Rabbit, and Crow? where are the veggies?

We need a snake and frog to finish the buffet of the animal kingdom. Mammals, Fish, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians.

Might be too early in the season for Frogs and Snake type creatures.

Is anyone else getting hungry?

If the rabbit, fish and crow are in front, what is in the back that is being fed to the eaglets?

I was wondering about that. Maybe one of the parents tore off a chunk of rabbit and stashed it back there.

Is the video on a tape delay? I live (almost) due South (500 miles) of the hatchery and it is pitch dark here. and I can see the road in the background of the video.

Before it got dark, I noticed cars pulling over on the side of the road in the background. Local stickybeakers?

Just checking sunset times, the sun sets in Decorah about 12 minutes after my hometown (7:35 pm). and civil twilight lasts until 8:03 pm. I wouldn’t think that there is that much different in sunsets/twilight in differing latitudes in early April. Late June, yes, but not April 3rd.

Straight Dope: Fighting Ignorance once again.

A few minutes ago the chicks got restless and there was a bit of “middle of the night” jiggling around. I suppose it must get awfully hot and squashy underneath whichever parent it is.
