I had refused to wear a watch for decades, just for the general “doing something different from everyone else”-ness of it. The cell phones were invented, and it seemed like the next cool thing, looking at the handheld computer that masquerades as a phone. Then it finally dawned on me that getting the phone out of the purse or wherever was a royal PITA, and impossible to do subtly.
So now I use a Fitbit as a watch, for the times when I need one (airplanes, getting medications for elders, etc.) or just want to know the time. I dislike the fitbit on my wrist, and admire novelty watches I see online, but it’s useful for right now.
Hah! A buddy of mine is a real watch aficionado (horologist). Although he buys and sells watches all the time, the two that you mentioned are his two favorites.
I voted other. Wristwatch, solar powered. I’ve had it for 15 years and no battery to change. Plus, it gets time sycnh at 5 am PST every morning. So no time adjusting either.
My phone is a backup, but it is easier to just look at my wrist.
