Watch Live Rice defending the Bush Admin...

CNN and Yahoo have live feeds of Rice defending the admin.

Feel free to post comments “live” here too.

Who is the white haired senator ?

She’s being quite feisty and a bit belligerent. For a moment, I thought she and Ben-Veniste were going to have to take it outside. This is probably the first time I’ve listened to her speak at great length.

Rice’s opening remarks.

The whole “swatting flies” thing and the Cole is interesting. Who is this guy who has her looking troubled?

And why are people clapping? To this non-American it seems strange that statements get rounds of applause in such a serious setting

Listening to this on the radio atm. And scratching my head. What exactly is this commission supposedly going to bring out thats worthwhile?? This sounds like the most partisan display of bullshit (on both sides) I can remember recently.

Democrats: Its all Bush’s fault! What if Mr. Bush had of personally taken charge and order the FBI and CIA to play nice, what if Mr. Bush had of revamped the government to work right, what if Mr. Bush had of been about to use his handy dandy retrospect machine to know the future…blah blah blah.

Republicans: Its all Clintons fault! Any my, what a great American YOU are Condi! Pander pander pander…

I haven’t followed this thing really closely until now, but if its all been like this…wtf good is thing thing and what do people thing is going to come out of it, besided political grandstanding and bullshit galor on both sides??

Yep the clapping is wierd…

Rice is avoiding certain issues with “will inform later”.

Families of 9/11 victims are in the room. I’m sure they’re expressing their approval when the commission asks the important questions, the answers to which we’ve all been waiting a long time for.

Now she’s just being difficult, trying to run out the clock and talking over the commission’s speakers. Bob Kerry actually accused her of trying to filibuster him.

As for the clapping, well, we think the shouting in the British Parliament is pretty strange!

This hearing is open to the public, at least those members of the public hardy enough to wait in line overnight outside, and they’re the ones applauding. I remember one guy yelled when Clarke was testifying and was hustled outside. As long as they’re not carrying weapons or signs they can come in and are expected to behave like grown-ups. It’s up to the chairman to quell it if he wants–Kerrey (a former Senator from Nebraska, not to be confused with Kerry) just asked them to knock it off.

This hearing is being carried live in Ireland and Brazil?! Good Lord! And people are watching it?

I’m using live feed from Yahoo news. I’m at work so not sure TV has it. If CNN has it then people are watching it.

Rice is saying “not aware” dozens of times now ! hahaa…

Heard her say thing a few times…in response to specific questions (like, did you do so and so on April 4th 2001). Could it be that she simply doesn’t KNOW for sure in some of those cases? Why does it HAVe to be ‘avoiding certain issues’? What EXACTLY did YOU do, RM on April the 4th at 10am in 2001? You are under oath now, RM, so don’t fuck up…

And what about the Democrat Senator (I missed his name, one of the first guys) that kept interrupting her and also went way over timen (with frankly stupid ‘what if’ scenerios)…and knew he did? Also, she is answering the same questions, refrased, over and over. I’ll tell you, were it me I’d be more than a little annoyed by this time. The Democrats are a pretty hostile lot, and the Republicans can’t kiss her ass fast enough. This whole thing is pretty sickening as far as I’m concerned. Partisan politics at its worst. I’m sure there are plenty of SDMB guru’s on both sides that are lapping this bullshit up.

There’s less shouting in the Irish Parliament

I’m sure Sky News and BBC 24 are showing it on TV but I’m looking/listening to it sitting at my desk in work through yahoo/media player while admining SAP.

Why would you be surprised that it’s being shown and people are interested. It’s big news. Doesn’t matter if it’s local or not it will be shown and analysed on UK and Irish TV along with other international and national news.

I’ve noticed some doublespeak. I’m also surprised that they are allowed to opine so much.

Xtisme… putting me under oath isn’t fair. I wasn’t thinking of invading Iraq or developing Star Wars programs in 2001. I can tell you what my general plans for life were back then.

Did they ask her specific questions of what she was doing in such and such day ?

I agree with your partisan politics being awful…

Although I believe most where hoping for a little less 9/11 and a little more WTF is going on in Iraq. Where the darn hearts and minds we keep hearing about?

Keep it down, Rashask, I’m trying to hear what our National Security Advisor Condeleezza Rice is saying. You and Yojimbo can rant your rants after she gets through talking.

Wow another Brazilian !

Blz cara ? Vc é de onde ? Eu sou de Brasilia.

Imagine an American watching a meeting in British Parliament…and you think this is strange

Most of the times I heard her reply with that stock answer was to specific questions like “Did you say so and so on this day” or “were you told such and such on that”. I found MOST of the time an “I’ll have to get back to you, I don’ t know the specifics of that” to be plausable. Some of the time, of course, it wasn’t. But then, what did you expect? She is up there grandstanding too. This whole thing is bread and circus’s for the masses, IMHO. Disgusting.

 As I said…the partisan crowd is lapping this tripe up on both sides. Condi is grandstanding…the Senators are grandstanding. The whole thing is BS. Enjoy.

Crap…appologies to RM. The second quote in my last post should be attributed to the one and only Milum. Need to learn to preview someday…

What’s you damage? I merely asked a question. Take it to the PIT if you want to make something out of it.
