Watch out for the heat! Also, Quentin Tarantino's next movie may look different

Sally Menke went hiking in Griffith Park (Los Angeles) on Monday, the same day that Los Angeles had a record heatwave (the official National Weather Service for downtown LA hit 113°F, then stopped working). She left at 9 AM with a hiking buddy, but her friend turned back. Sally’s friends called the police at 4PM when she didn’t come back. A search team from the LAPD found her at 2AM with her dog next to her.

Sally Menke was 56, and nominated for two Academy Awards for editing Quentin Tarantino’s movies (Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds.) I think she edited all of his movies.

Obituary: Sally Menke dies at 56; editor on Quentin Tarantino’s movies By Dennis McLellan and Andrew Blankstein, Los Angeles Times (September 29, 2010)

I never would have thought that someone could die on a hike in the middle of LA, just from the heat!
