Watching ER tonight??

I saw it, but I had a few different takes on it:

  1. Romano threw the tray not because someone he knew had died, but because his monumental ego makes it difficult for him to accept failure. It meant he wouldn’t be able to (figuratively) put another notch on his belt. It reminded him he’s only human and he can’t stand being reminded he’s not a god.

  2. Dr. Kerry Weaver (That’s the character’s name according to www.nbc.com/er/innes.html ) was AFRAID of the shizophrenic guy. I saw fear in her face, not hate. I’d bet she was remembering finding Carter and Lucy and realizing how close she came to getting a knife in HER back. And since she’s on crutches, she’s more vulnerable and less likely to survive an assault.

It was one of their best episodes. I bet it gets nominated for an Emmy.

The Pschyo also played on the SANTA CLAUSE with Tim Allen. Pschyo was Bernard the elf.

The part that got to me was at the end when Peter wouldn’t answer John’s questions and John just says, “Lucy is dead, isn’t she?” I mean, oh my God. That was too much.

Agreed, Jeannie - that scene was gut wrenching - maybe even more than her actual death.

Poor Carter…

Chicksan Line: One question, though: what’s wrong with Carrie?

She’s got a limp. She’s had it ever since she joined the show. Have you never noticed her crutch before?

Wrong thinking is punished, right thinking is just as swiftly rewarded. You’ll find it an effective combination.

My question is this: Have they ever explained what happened to her to give her this limp in the first place? The theory I have is a little far-fetched, but I was thinking that her character is supposed to be in her late 30’s to early 40’s, which would have made her a young child during the 1950’s polio outbreaks. Either that or she was in some kind of accident or was born with it.

Shadowfox

“The dead have risen, and they’re voting Republican!” - Bart Simpson

This was a great episode. jab1, I have to disagree with your take on Romano. He might have thrown the tray ought of frustated egotism, but sewing up the corpse was an act of humanity. The guy does have a heart in there, somewhere.

Shadowfox, there’s never been any explanation for Kerry’s limp, although in one episode it was hinted that it was a birth defect. It was the episode where she found the little kid with the shunt, and she asked someone, “Do you think his parents might have abandoned him because he was born with a disability?” (My quote is probably not 100% accurate, but you get the idea.) The implication was that her own parents abandoned her for the same reason.

It’ll be interesting to watch how all the characters deal with the fallout of the attack and Lucy’s subsequent death. Tune in next week. . .

“There are more things you don’t know than there are things that I do know. I despair of the imbalance.” – Dr. Morgenes, The Dragonbone Chair

Kelli,

Your’e right, you would. My father is a doctor, and he told me that almost everyone is overcome at least once in residency by the awful carnage that can be done to the human body. He said it happened to him one day when they brought in a wounded victim, ( gunshot? accident? I don’t remember.) and the world went grey. When he came to, the Drs and nurses were standing over him going “Ron?, Ron?” and the patient was lying on the gurney alone. ( aparently the injuries were not life threatening.) Ask any medical professional though, and they will tell you they get jaded after a while. It’s only when they have a personal connection to the patient that it comes back. ( i.e. Kerry (sp) pukeing.) Good show! And I too cried like a baby. I remember thinking, good thing I haven’t been drinking, or I’d probobly set off the sump pump!

Cecil said it. I believe it. That settles it.

I saw the first half hour, but missed the rest of the episode. I knew Lucy was going to die, but Carter’s okay, right?

Yes. Though if they’re realistic, it should be a LONG while before he recovers completely, say, by the end of May.
