I ran across a new show on the Discovery Channel called One Man Army. I didn’t expect too much and maybe because of that I found it surprisingly enjoyable. The idea is that each week four highly qualified people (in the first episode this was a former Delta Force member, a U.S. Marshall, a former SWAT team leader/military contractor, and a weapons instructor) compete in three knockout competitions–speed, strength, and intelligence–with the winner getting $10,000.
What I liked about the show:
[ul]
[li]the challenges were genuinely difficult[/li][li]the “up close and personal” BS was kept to a reasonable level[/li][li]there were no “no-hopers” there for comedy relief[/li][/ul]
What I didn’t like as much was the knockout format. While I don’t think it made a difference in the first episode (the same guy won all three challenges), the order of the challenges could have had a bearing on the winner.
Did anyone else watch this? If so, what did you think of it?
