I haven’t read through this entire thread, but I thought that **Ask The Muslim Guy ** and **Ask the Gay Guy ** threads ( and their exciting sequels) are/were an outstanding example of the sense of community and the burning inquistive desire to learn this place represents.
Cartooniverse’s thread **Everything has changed ** about his personal experiences after September 11, 2001 in NYC was exceptionally poignant.
The way SDMB pulled together and wondered, waited, fretted, prayed over the NY dopers after that tragic day.
**May 5, 1945 ** by **Coldfire ** was exceptionally well done.

I’ve been here for, well, 3000 plus posts and still have a hard time with searches and links.
What? No one’s mentioned Guy Stuff yet? The longest thread on the board if memory serves.
Nor has anyone mentioned felching.
I remember Satan’s banning. And Drain Bead’s resulting departure. And I remember the threads about their relationship. And I remember his previous relationship with Heather. But most of all I remember when Heather want to stick a dildo in Satan’s anus and he inexplicably decided the best way to seek advice on this issue was to post it on this board.
I also remember when aha started a thread in which he shamelessly tried to get Cecil Adams to post a greeting to him. Aha tried various tricks for several weeks and eventually Cecil did respond. He warmly welcomed everyone else in the thread by name and then asked who this guy “woohoo” was.
I thought it was hoo-ha? Anyway, didn’t aha change his name to hoo-ha for a short while in response to that?
Or maybe my memory’s playing tricks on me again.

Squicking and felching are always good for a laugh, but I fondly remember SqrlCub’s obsession with the TV show Small Wonder (probably because a thread that mentioned it would always result in me screaming and convulsing). God that was a bad show.

A chap named seethruart. This guy was/is absolutely convinced that the Apollo missions were a “lie” and a huge conspiracy was involved. He also believes that on the Apollo photos you can see shuttles/buildings/etc on the lunar surface. Going to his website (if you dare) you’ll be shown how clouds, mars, etc are all part of a conspiracy. (??)
seethruart was watershed for me, as it was the first time I actually saw somebody on the board has some real, serious issues that genuinely needed professional help.
I have searched for a bit on this and have come up dry, but when **Aha ** outed himself as a rock n roll star of days gone by, I was awestruck, nay, dare I say, Flabbergasted, to be in such presence.
I miss that crazy bastard…
I don’t. Under the name of Piper, he polluted my own BadAstro BB mercilessly. Since I have fewer posters there, the signal-to-noise ratio dropped nearly to nil. Feh. Good riddance.

Actually what made me finally read the board was This looney thread where a poster was asking about how to get gophers or moles out of his lawn and garden … It was a series in thread spotting one week
It started well enough but by the third thread about it it was sounding like a wile coyote/ road runner cartoon ,
If anyone else remebers the threads did he ever actually get rid of the pests or just adopt them as outdoor pets ?
