Prague’s Franz Kafka International Named World’s Most Alienating Airport
If you like it half as much as I do, you need to watch it about 4 times to catch all the gags, it’s brilliant!
Ha!
Bizarrely, this story was taken as fact and used for humorous comment by Jimmy Fallon on his TV show. Apparently he and his writing staff:
- Have never heard of Franz Kafka, or
- Have never heard of the Onion, or
- Aren’t able to recognize an Onion story, or
- Have some automated service that scans the Internet for headlines, and which doesn’t list the source of the headline.
Also: I was surprised there were no cockroach references in the video.
It’s hard to decide what is my favorite, but at the moment it might be"Everyone is calling me S."
Also, you gotta look for the subtitles under the names onscreen, and the digital crawl and baggage check… god they had so much fun doing that.
“Departures arriving early and arrivals landing late may be cancelled or delayed without prior notice”
FYI, these are available as free podcasts. There is a video series, and an unrelated audio series.
Can you fill me in on that one?
I laughed out loud, and feel kind of guilty for laughing out loud at the astronauts suffering “high pitched death after helium leak” video.
“Obama blasted for failing to solve issue of life being a cold, despairing excessive in futility.”
To me, the problem with the Onion is that the joke is in the title, and the rest is just derivative. The idea is clever. You expect the video to contain a lot of references / similarities to his work, especially The Castle and The Trial. And it does, and that’s it.
For some reason none of the Onion videos will play for me. The area where the video is supposed to be stays black; if I move my mouse into that space I get the bar at the bottom and the various link options at the sides, but that’s it.
I’m using Windows XP and Firefox 3, if that matters, but I know I’ve been able to watch Onion videos before
Do you have Adblock Plus installed in Firefox? I’ve found Adblock sometimes makes videos fail to load, and such was the case here for me. Disable Adblock, then bring up the site again and the video should then load and play.
Rather appropriate given the video in questio
That worked, once I figured out how to do it. Apparently simply unchecking www.theonion.com in the filter list isn’t sufficient, I have to completely disable Adblock Plus before opening the website. Which is going to be a PITA.
I was able to add an “exception” to AdBlock Plus:
Now the videos play.
I also had the problem with a black video window. However, all videos are also available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheOnion&view=videos
I just did this, and it seems to be working. Which is good, because I forgot to un-disable Adblock before, and actually saw some ads on the next website I went to.
