Ways in which you are annoyingly pedantic

Hey, they still honor Lamarck in France…

Lamarck was a great biologist who really did not deserve Lamarckianism to be named after him. The inheritance of acquired characteristics was a minor part of his otherwise sound and coherent hypotheses about evolution, which predate any understanding of genetics. </pedant example>

True. I think he has been unfairly tarrred.

Still, he did miss the fundemental point…

And the famous "experiments’ that proved Lamarckism was wrong are totally bous. Remember, it was inheritance of characteristics that a species is striving for- so cutting off the tails of a bunch of mice was just unneeded cruelty. And today Lamarckism does have some small validity in a limited sense.
wiki- In the 21st century, experimental results in the fields of epigenetics, genetics, and somatic hypermutation demonstrated the possibility of transgenerational epigenetic inheritance of traits acquired by the previous generation. These proved a limited validity of Lamarckism.[6] The inheritance of the hologenome, consisting of the genomes of all an organism’s symbiotic microbes as well as its own genome, is also somewhat Lamarckian in effect, though entirely Darwinian in its mechanisms.[7]

Mind you, not quite like he imagined.
