We could use your prayers please

Hiya,

I’m still in shock and extremely stressed and all I can think of to do is to ask for your prayers.

Our cat Shae has an infection and perhaps kidney failure. Her only symptom has been peeing on the floor which I mistook as a behavioral problem. She’s not running a fever or eating more or less or changed her drinking habits. Nothing to suggest anything was wrong.

I’m feeling like a failure as a Mom cause I didn’t rush her into the dr. sooner.

Please pray for her or send your good thoughts or whatever her way. She’s only 7 and still has a lot of good years ahead of her.

Thank you everyone!

Poor kitty :frowning:

Hope she pulls through.

Hugs and best wishes for you.

Same thing happened to us, with one of our previous cats. Only in slow motion, over years. It was a seasonal thing, in the cold weather months (even though he was an indoor cat). For a few months each year, he’d pick a spot on the carpet, and find that preferable to his litter box. Then in the spring, he’d behave himself again. So yeah, we thought it was behavioral too.

When we found out about his kidney problems, it was really too late, though he lived for several more months. I could still kick myself for yelling at that cat when I should have been taking him to the vet.

So cadolphin, you and Shae have both my prayers and my sympathy.

I’m adding my prayers to those already going to that big Cat in the Sky. And you’re not a bad Mom!

Sending good thoughts your way!

Well, **cadolphin, ** your story about your kitty has had one good result. It has made me aware that one of my cats, who has been doing the carpet pee thing, may have a health problem, not a behavior problem. It’s time for his annual exam anyway(I just got the reminder card)… And I’ve been hollering at him too! Poor baby.

I’ll be thinking of you and Shae. Praying too.

I hope your kitty feels better soon. Maybe she will bounce back to her usual self since she is not elderly. I will have a good thought for all of you.

my winken the wonderful had kidney problems in july and aug. luckily i got her to the vet very early and with anti bios and saline iv.s she is back to normal. we had to go to the vets every other day for the iv.s. she did not tolerate them at home. at the vets she is an angel.

i hope things work out well for you and shae.

I’m sending good feline wishes your way. And so is Fido, my cat.

Thank you everyone!!!

I’m so glad our experience has done some good Baker. I’m just sick about all the times Rico and I have yelled or talked stearnly to her.

She seems to like her new food (Feline KD). So do the other cats so maybe that part won’t be as hard as I was afraid.

I’m sending prayers and positive healing thoughts your way.

My Kobii is my child, and it sounds like you feel the same way about Shae…you are NOT a bad mom, and I am sure she knows how much you love her.

My best friend has an elderly kitty that was diagnosed with kidney failure two years ago…she got so sick she was down to five pounds before she started getting better. Now, two years later, she is about to celebrate her 19th birthday!!! And doing extremely well, thankyouverymuch!

I pray the same for Shae.

My Love,

Cheri

Get well wishes coming from us and our seven cats and a dog.

update:

Shae’s infection has cleared up but the dr. confirmed yesterday that her kidneys are failing. He said she could go any time or be with us another 1 1/2 yrs. No way to tell.

Rico and I go in tomorrow to learn how to do daily Subcutaneous Fluid Therapy.

She’s not in any pain or distress at this point.

But I’m curled up on the couch unable to move. Yesterday I was numb.

Please Dear God, shut down my kidneys, but please don’t take our baby girl from us.

Kathy

cadolphin, thinking of you and your cat. hugs

Awww. :frowning:

I hope your kitty stays healthy (well, as healthy as possible) for a while. I know how you feel, because I almost lost my cat in August. He had crystals in his urine, and it caused a blockage. If I had taken him in a day later, he wouldn’t have made it.

I’ll say a prayer for your cat tonight. I hope things turn out for the best.

Cadolphin

I just wanted to let you know I feel for you and Rico. It’s always hard to hear that your beloved furbaby is ill.

Now, I know you can do this for Shae. Once you get the procedure down-pat, this is a 15 minute procedure (from start to finish) that can bring you even closer to your furbaby than before.

I have a 2 16 year old kitties… Johnny and Lady - they are littermates. They both have diabetes, so sticking them with needles has become old hat for all of us. However, Johnny has an occasional bout of dehydration and elevated bun/creatinin (sp?) levels. This requires giving him subq fluids. I worked with my vet on how long it should take to inject the fluids and whether we could use a smaller needle (started out with an 18 gauge, and worked down to a 22, which was easier on Johnny and still gave us the fluid injection rate within a decent period of time).

He doesn’t exactly love the whole ordeal, but he does love the extra petting and talking he gets. And he feels better afterwards, which is the best thing of all.

We (the furbabies and me) will be thinking of you all!

I had two cats who had kidney disease, so I know a little of what you are going through. My vet recommended turkey baby food when they quit eating. If Shae develops a poor appetite and your vet allows, you may want to try it. It worked great with my girls.

i couldn’t give winken the wonderful the fluids at home. she would become a hissy girl. i had to take her to the vet for it. the techs were great, and charged $10. per visit. winkie is great at the vets. the perfect little furry.

good luck. i hope shea does well.

Sending kitty love from my kitties-Malcom, TiaMaria and Zoe, and my best wishes as well for your Shae.

Neo, Tempesta, Maximus, and Ms. Riggs send their best wishes to Shae, and you have my hopes for a better time for her. It is really hard on parents when our feline and canine kids get sick.

Hugs
