We have another person at the dinner table!

Loren, now a year and a half old, no longer sits in a high chair, but eats dinner at the table with the rest of the family. We bought her a booster seat yesterday after she developed the skill of climbing back into the highchair. She is eating with a regular fork and drinks out of a small glass glass. She tucked her napkin into her lap and used it to wipe her mouth when appropriate. She is so adorabale! She listened to the conversation and made conversation herself, though not yet understandable conversation. I am so proud.

Congratulations to you and your family! They grow really fast, don’t they? And it’s such a joy to see them grow into themselves, if you know what I mean.

Lowercase started doing the same at about the same age, though a year on he’s graduated to climbing onto the table and stealing food. Weird kid - doesn’t like chocolate or sweets, but loves olives and pickles, which he happily eats whole. And tomato sauce, which he is convinced is a food group and eats with a spoon.

We gave him a little demitasse espresso cup, which was the perfect size, until he got his finger stuck in the handle and ran around the house howling and waving it in the air. Nothing a little washing up liquid wouldn’t slide off, but now he’s convinced it will “bite me” and won’t use it anymore.

Yes, “grow into themselves” describes it well. She has always been alert, but it is like as she gorws, there is more of her looking back through her eyes.
