Henry is really beautiful! And I think Toasty is gorgeous, too.
Do you or your wife smoke? Or does anyone you know smoke?
You might encourage Henry & Geri to nest with you if you line the nesting pot with used cigarette butts!

Thanks. We’re not smokers, and maybe we’ll give the butts a pass. But a couple of pidgees including Toasty do like to come and take a nap in the flower box. So maybe someone will get the idea to nest. Not sure what Henry will think of that though. As you can see, he’s rather territorial. We think his nest may be up in the nooks of a row of townhouses next to our building. That’s the direction he and Geri always fly off toward in the evening when it’s time to go home. And the wife thinks she may have seen Henry up on the roof of one once while she was walking past.
Henry’s been coming around for almost 3-1/2 years now and learned the jumping-up trick maybe two years ago. Under no circumstances will he allow anyone to touch him though. A pity, because I’ll bet he’s really soft.
Another video, this one of pidgee foreplay. ![]()
No, not Henry and Geri unfortunately. They do their loving somewhere else. This is just a pair of grays. The female almost looks like Boots, what with the socky feet, but it’s not her. Boots still has her slightly raggedy tail from whatever accident befell her. Plus she’s lost her mate Bruiser.
This couple is just an anonymous pair feeling frisky. I thought I was going to get some actual sex footage, because they seemed to be leading up to it, but then at the end the male became distracted by an enemy pidgee off camera whom he felt he had to go attack, and the mood was broken. But we’ve seen this behavior before. The excessive preening by both, the kissing. You’ll notice the female sort of nips her mate’s tail, and she did it a few times before I started filming too. Then the male started giving his sweetie a “head massage,” which you can tell she really enjoys. Watch her eyes. Pure heaven. Now we’ve seen both males and females do the head massage for their mates before, and it doesn’t always end in sex, but it’s always an intimate act. Picking mites maybe? Again, I expected actual sex until the male just had not gotten distracted.
I may have to get an actual video camera.
EDIT: And yes, that is the designated sex area. ![]()
Pidgee porn! Yay!
Well, soft porn anyay. I’m still trying to get the hard-core stuff.
That video was taken Thursday morning, BTW.
Awww, that looks so sweet. Merry Christmas to you, your wife and all your pidgees!
Thanks, and to you.
We’ll be upcountry for a few days for New Year’s, so Henry’s about to get another shock. At least this time won’t be as long as the US trip.
We got back into town this morning (Wednesday morning) from up in the Northeast. Some low mountains that were almost too cold for our sweaters. Back to 90-degree-plus weather here in Bangkok now.
But when we walked in the door, we checked the balcony, and there were Henry and Geri waiting for us. We were gone four days. Hope they didn’t stake out our place the whole time! They were very glad to see us.
Glad to hear they stuck around. But who leaves a good thing once they have it?
It’s so CUTE that pidgees kiss! Happy New Year, Siam Sam!
And they do some really big French-kiss action when they get really hot and bothered too. Still trying to capture that on film.
Happy New Year to you too.
I think they start painting our building next week. Not sure yet how we’re going to cover that. Hopefully it won’t take long. I do believe they’re starting on another side though. We’re 36 stories, so this could take awhile, but hopefully not long just for our immediate section.
On Sunday, a large gray male showed up missing a toe on his right foot. And both legs seem to have been caught up in string. We think he may have just lost it that morning, as he kept sort of picking at his foot with his beak. Could not walk very comfortably and had to keep “lounging” on the rail. We think maybe he got caught in the string – someone trying to catch him maybe? – and he may have sliced off a toe with the string while getting away. He hung out here for a while. No use trying to catch him, but he seemed to want to rest here a bit. Put a little food out for him and a couple others swooped in and chased him away from it. And then when we tried to chase those away, the injured one of course thought we were after him too. So we finally just let him be. He left in the afternoon and has not been back. (Monday night here now.) This is at least the second pigeon we’ve seen get string caught on its leg(s). I wonder if someone really is trying to trap them. Pidgees seem to want to come to our balcony if they’re hurt or dying but won’t let us touch them. Very frustrating. It’s like: “Help! Help! But don’t touch me!”
Meanwhile, Big Red showed back up after about a two-month absence this time. I wonder just where it is he gets off to. We’ve not seen his mate Snowflake for a while either. She was coming around even after he disappeared again, then she stopped. Whatever happened to her, he does not have a new mate yet. We know from experience that he only likes the almost pure white ones even if it means mating with his own daughter. There is one sort of like that coming around, but she’s still very young.
The one who’s missing a toe is coming around again. Still hobbles awkwardly and so just lounges on top of the rail. Today he was here at the same time as Spooky and her broken leg. Geez, it’s getting to be Gimp City around here. We want to feed Spooky, but she too is convinced we’re after her if we chase others away from attacking her, and she’s rarely here alone. But she gets around on her leg okay. We’re convinced it’s just set that way and she’s not in pain. Makes me think of one pidgee we saw in Washington DC last April that had one foot missing along with most of the other one. Just sort of hobbled around, poor thing.
Henry and Geri have started coming around together again instead of in shifts, so the squabs back in the nest are probably getting big now. In fact, we may have seen them just once over the weekend, two new ones who bore a striking resemblance. Haven’t seen them again though. The flower box has become Geri’s Begging Box. Instead of jumping up in the window like Henry, she’ll hop up onto the edge of the box and stare intently inside. I think you can see an example on one of those videos. Three times today while I was away, the wife said Geri would jump up on the Begging Box asking for more after eating what was put out each time.
Tell Henri and Gery you have a good deal on pidgee rent this month and maybe they’ll move to the balcony. How high up are you in that building?
Not high. Sixth floor of a 36-story building. In some of the photos you can get a sense of the height from the background temple and surroundings. We’ve noticed pidgees up as high as the 10th floor. I wonder what their upper limit is. There’s an excellent view of the city from up on the roof, but we’ve never seen any birds at all up there.
The painters have started working the buildings in the complex, four 36-story towers. First they’ll clean the outside of the buildings, then go over them to seal up cracks – ours is the newest building at about 10 years but it still has a few – then paint. They’ll also be painting the balconies and will have to enter our units. We’re probably at least a month away from dealing with that, but we’ll also have to put away the water dish at the time.
More than the absence of food, no water being out there really shocks the pidgees. You can see it whenever we clean the balcony and I’m off washing the water dish. The wife has noticed it too. They just stop dead in their tracks and stare at the spot they know the water dish is supposed to be, like they’re thinking, “What the *#!?”
There’s a new young dark gray that I’ve named the Little Stupid Guy. He seems a little retarded. Slow to react. Just takes it whenever Henry or the others peck him to chase him away from the food. Flaps his wings about like Squealer used to – wonder whatever happened to him – and I can almost touch him, as he just stares at me until it’s almost too late. I did manage to reach out and touch him while he was eating the other day. Unlike the others, he failed to pay attention to what was going on around him.
Oh, and the one who’s missing a toe. He is walking better on his foot but still likes to lounge. Still bothers him some. We leave him be out there and let him rest. Looks like the string on his legs is just about off.
I did it! Steaming hot, unadulterated pidgee sex, caught on video in the designated sex area. Between two grays. I’ll try to get that loaded sometime this week.
Oooooh. please tell me it’s NSFW!
It’s very NSFW. Hot pidgee fornication. I’ll have to put it in a spoiler box.
