…and you seemed like such a nice person.
Is that it? Is that all the baby kitty pics we’re getting?
(I’m mostly kidding, pinkfreud. I realize you have a lot on your plate right now.)
I’m squeeing like crazy here. Those are absolutely precious kitties! And you’re a wonderful person for taking them in and going to so much trouble to care for them.
Just a word of caution to be very careful about the type of space heater and the location of it. There was a very, very sad incident that happened some years ago in my home town, where a family had found a lost, scared, hungry and cold dog and took it in. It was winter (and as I recall, there was even snow on the ground), so they put him in the garage with a space heater to keep him warm. Well, he was so cold that he snuggled up as close as he could possibly get to the heater, and without describing the details, just know that the entire house burned down to the ground. The people were all safe, but nothing else was salvageable.
Ugh, I hate posting that, so let me close with a picture of another kitty who did not like her bath (not mine – just found a random picture from online). Enjoy.
GAAAAH! I LOVE THEM! Sooo cute.
Our newest is getting fixed as we speak. - I already miss her.
Dolly reminds me ofBrisco after his first bath
Are you and the little fuzzers OK, pinkfreud?
Oh my God. That’s the kind of cute you want to squish into a ball and put in your pocket.
Good gad.
What’s wrong with calling them “little fuzzers”? They probably have soft, fuzzy kitten fur…
It makes my teeth hurt.
But please, carry on. I’ll floss after reading the posts.
update, please! how are ‘the little fuzzers’ doing???
enquiring minds need to know!
update, i say!
i’ll calm down now.
Here is an update on Henry and Dolly.
Henry now weighs more than two pounds, and Dolly is over one pound. Henry is eating canned kitten food with a bit of dry kitten food on the side. He is a little fireball who is constantly playing with his toys, wrestling his little sibling, and climbing people’s legs as if they are tree trunks. Dolly is extremely cuddly and a bit shy, but is playful and spunky, and sometimes initiates the wrestling matches even though Henry is twice as big.
A very kind and generous Doper gave us some gift certificates that have enabled us to stockpile a big batch of kitty chow and ensure a joyous holiday for our household even though I’m out of a job. It has been said that happiness is a warm puppy. That’s entirely true, but I’d extend the definition of “puppy” to “a living thing that loves and needs you.” And, in that spirit, I wish all my fellow Dopers the very best, from one puppy to another.
Awwwww!! Dolly’s all ears, just like my Katya was when we first got her. She eventually did grow into her ears, though.
I wants them.
Nooooo, greedy Dopers cannot have them. They are My Precious.
Henry has green eyes! I love marmalade cats - my Yogi is a marmalade, but he has yellow eyes.
I’m so glad they are doing well and giving you comfort through tough times.
Is it very hard to find an apartment that will allow cats over there? It’s pretty tough here, but seems to be getting a little easier. One or two buildings in my neighborhood didn’t use to allow them, but now they do.
In some places, yes. It’s particularly hard to find pet-friendly apartments in nice neighborhoods with decent amenities (central air conditioning/heating, dishwasher, in-unit washer/dryer, that sort of thing). Apartments that do allow cats may limit the number you can have (we’re allowed 2). It’s even harder if you have a dog- there are many apartments that allow cats but not dogs (ours is one), or that allow dogs up to 25 or 30 pounds, but not larger dogs.
So Dolly turned out to be a girly kitty after all?
They’re so freaking CUTE! What are they getting for Xmas? (if you celebrate it, that is).
Did you ever figure out if Dolly is a boy or a girl?
