He walked up to our jobsite saying he was looking for a “green house with cwismas on it” I said jokingly “Cristmas is cancelled kid” He walked off still looking lost. Being as how this is a small bedroom community outside of a small town I figured he’d find his house in about 30 seconds. however, about 15min later we heard crying.at this point I heard my friend/co-worker say to the kid “hey kid are you still lost?, come here we’ll help you find home”(he’s excellent with the little ones, he’s got a brood of his own) So there we were, four carpenters trying to figure out where this kid lives. He didn’t have an address for us but he did have a ph# so I went next door to a friends house to use his phone book(numerical cross reference) to no avail. By the time I returned my other co-worker was on the cell with the State Troopers and the others were asking him questions and comforting him. He gave us paperwork from school from which we got his last name which we were relaying to the troopers via cell (who were on the way)
Long story short the trooper arrived ,picked up the kid and found mommy who was at the bus stop still awaiting his arrival (we got to see this since we were behind trooper going in the same direction) . When we got to the job office the boss asked :“did you find that kid a home” (we called and told him what we were doing) I said jokingly : " yeah he’s in the orphanage, probably eating porrige as we speak"… 
Good job, Tony. I thought I’d be pissed after I read the “Christmas is cancelled” line, but I s’pose you’re a smartass with a heart.
Kudos to you, I’m glad there are people out there who still care. 
Glad to see the little kid found some help, even if it initially had a smartass attitude.

yeah hanging around carpenters all day its hard for me to drop the smart-assed remarks sometimes.
oh BTW we tried the phone number the kid gave us, all we got was a slightly bizarre answering machine mssg . my co-worker redialed and said: " you gotta to hear this"
so I listen: " Hi this is Mary I cant make it to the phone right now leave a mssg. If this is John ,I LOOVE you John, Please leave me a mssg John I LOOVE you"
Man she sounded sad. I figured “John” is her ex…
