And it totally, utterly, and completely rocked. Thank you.
I just hope the guy who showed up at Wolf Trap looking for that concert managed to find his way to Nissan. (For those not familiar with Northern Virginia, I will just say he was SO not close.) Glad you had fun, punkin.
Glad you liked it. I went to his show on 8/27 at Blossom Music Center near Cleveland. There’s nothing like 18,000 drunk people who know all the words to the songs.
I’ll be visiting the “Parrot-head Capitol of the World” in October. I’ll listen to Jimmy all the way down to the Keys! Would be nice if he was actually around while we’re down there, but I doubt my luck would be that good.
Jimmy Buffett is awesome. I’ve got tons of pics from attending parrot-head fests on my website, if you’re interested. In my mind, the dressing up and tailgating are half the fun of a Buffett show. http://www.hespos.com/pictures.html - scroll down a bit and you’ll find them.
BTW, expect jesuslynch to pop in here at some point and throw some Buffett praise around.
Fins is just so much more fun with several thousand other people doing the hand movements.
Geobabe, thanks babe, and we have some beads left over, if, you know, you really want them…
PatrickM, it’s the only show we saw this year, but we saw him twice last year, and it’s just as great every time.
TroubleAgain, listening to Jimmy all the way down to the Keys…now that’s my idea of the perfect road trip. If you do run into Sir James down there, say hi for Lucretia and me!
THespos, love your pictures! Looks like we had better weather than you guys, though. It was 85, sunny and perfect.
Bring 'em to the Halloween party and we’ll, uh, negotiate.
TA, have you been there before? If you haven’t visited Margaritaville, do. Their cheeseburgers literally are paradise!
I’ve been to at least a dozen of Bubba’s concerts, and yes they do rock. I took Mr. Beckwall to his first Buffett show
a few years ago at the Hollywood Bowl. Mr. Beckwall was skeptical, being the type who loves Weezer and Butthole Surfers and Rage Against The Machine. But he had a great time, because half of the fun is being part of the crowd. I
would recommend it to anyone who wants to be silly and sing out loud and make goofy hand gestures. Wear some hideous clothes/hats/jewelry when you go. It’s just one of those experiences that gets better and better each time, kinda like wild monkey sex a-go-go.
I am so jealous.
you bastards!

I’ve been to Key West, but we didn’t have time for much visiting and sightseeing. I would absolutely love a “cheeseburger in Paradise”! (And an ice cold beer!)
Knock a couple back for me, ok? And do your best not to miss the sunset at Mallory Square. My best Key West pics are from there…
Oh, and if you happen to wander into the Margaritaville souvenier shop and find a shirt with either a book lying open and various fantasic scenes popping forth from it, or one with “Yes, I am a pirate, 200 years to late” (etcetera, etcetera and so forth) on it, pick it up for me? I’ll send you the money for it posthaste. (The first one I’ve been looking for about 10 years, the second one is my favorite Buffett song)
Now, a little back on topic… anyone have any idea when he’ll be in the NY area? I’ve been trying to go for about 8 years, and every time he was playing the Ice Palace (or the ThunderDome before that), something prevented me from going. I want the full experience, damn it! And I can probably help sing along all those songs (as well as drink that beer) with the best of 'em!
Jimmy Buffett rocks! I’ve seen him maybe a dozen times. One concert was an interesting experience:
The day tickets went on sale, I showed up 4 hours early, and there were already a dozen folks in front of me. But a dozen ain’t so bad, right? Wrong! I got to the front of the line and literally all of the reserved seating had been sold out. All that was left was the nosebleed general admission. In other words, I could’ve shown up the day of the concert and gotten the exact same cattle-call tickets. I was so pissed, I wrote a letter to him, saying we’d gone for years, and I’d be there anyway, but very disappointed. They actually called me back and gave me 4 free tickets. Turns out they were about the best tickets in the place. We smuggled in marguaritas and danced all night.
It’s as much fun to watch the crowd as it is to watch the stage at a JB event. He attracts some wild partiers.
