Damn - the whole building just shivered for about 10 seconds and the photos fell of my credenza - AND I’M IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA!
That was weird.

I’m in Lynchburg, and I felt the whole building quiver. I’m on the fourth floor, and I thought the roof above me would give out.
This is an all girls campus, and everyone’s flipping out.
EEEEKKKK.
Yes! I am near Farmville, VA, (about 20 miles to the west) and also felt it – ceiling fans swaying wildly, things falling off bookshelves, the timbers creaking and moaning in my house; the bottom floor of my house is on a concrete slab, and everything on the floor was bouncing about – lasted about 30 seconds here.
Simul-post!
Freaky, eh?

Wow, it’s not on the USGS yet. News first at the SDMB. I wonder what size it was.
We felt it in Baltimore. At least, I did.
Sorry guys… I tripped…
I’m in Minnesota! And I…
Well. I didn’t feel a damn thing.

If I read their map key correctly, I think it was between a 4 and 5.
Now, yes, I have been feeling stroppy since my stash of Cadbury Fruit ‘n’ Nut ran out…
My neighbour rang me afterwards and asked, What do we do?!
She figured I’d know cos I’m English…er…hmmm
On Fern Forest’s link now. Magnitude 4.5. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsUS/Quakes/uscdbf.htm
Aw man, I wanna be in an earthquake!
Judging by the map it looks like it was about a “4”.
That’s it, it’s the end times.
Richmond?!
Anway, looks like it was 4.5, and centered 15 miles SE of Columbia, VA (from here)
It was an earthquake?
I just thought the sex was better than usual
Washington Post article
I didn’t even feel it, probably because this used to be secure storage for the Navy.
One of these days, I’m going to be doing it, and there will be an earthquake, and my partner and I will turn to each other and ask simultaneously, “So, did the earth move?”
In DC proper and didn’t feel it at all.
Between 4 and 5? Bah, here in California, that’s nothin’ but a fun ride. Even at 6, I’d just be whoopin’ and hollerin’ and sayin’ “rock and roll!”
Wake me when it gets above 7.5. The only quake that ever woke me up from a sleep was the Northridge quake at 8-something.
People in my office (downtown DC) tell me they felt the building shake, but it’s an old building that shakes any time the subway goes under it. I’m 7 blocks away and didn’t feel a thing.
In SF, a 4.5 rates a “Welcome to San Francisco!” quip on the PA at SFO - the tourists like it, the natives yawn…
Beginners…
I was in the middle of a meeting in my off ice when it felt for a moment like the building was going to come down. Awesome!
