We need a DNC 2012 Thread

But it’s all he has to work with, so cut him some slack. Every time he posts another undecided votes for the Democrats.

you are seriously arguing that the GOP’s economic policies have been successes?
That’s a whoosh, right?

You clearly don’t know what empirical means, and you should probably hold off on using it until you do. Hint: it has nothing to do with your feelings.

And then Cory Booker limped up to the lectern and said, “Not so fast…”

At least he hasn’t gone to the “Democrat Party” foolishness.

Oh, wait:

Yeah that particular quote was … unhinged, to put it kindly … or a paranoid-racist crapfest to put it another way.

Many of them are likely “Muslims, abortion fanatics, gays, lesbians, transsexuals, transvestites, occupiers, government unions, illegal aliens, communists, and more!”, so why would you give a shit?

Y’know, freaks.

I like the word “unhinged”. I have just noticed it being used more commonly recently, but it has a nice sting. More sharp than just calling someone crazy.

So, after having a few friends send me links to the speakers at the convention, I have decided to break my rule for this year and watch the rest of the convention. I hope I haven’t missed all the good parts in real time. I already missed Eastwood at the Republican Convention and had to watch it after the fact.

I think it’s been going fantastic.

I felt bad for poor Martin O’Malley(who I’ll always picture as Carcetti from The Wire), who gave a terrific speech no one will remember because he was stuck between Deval Patrick and Michelle Obama.

On a more shallow note, I thought Michelle’s dress looked fantastic and she made an excellent argument in favor of the importance of the Second Amendment.

I previously thought you were a Republican operative (either on the payroll or a dedicated amateur wannabe) because every post you make consists of regurgitated right-wing talking points, but now I’m wondering if you’re actually just some kind of bot-- and not a particularly complex one.

Dollface, I wanted you to know I loved your comment so much I took my name from it. It was that or name myself after you, but Obvious Troll is Obvious didn’t have the same ring to it.

Maybe he’s Democratic operative!

And these people – do they run the gamut from conservative to liberal?

Ooh, ooh, we haven’t had enough threads hijacked into a discussion about whether liberals are hypocrites who just want an echo-chamber. Can we hijack this thread into that discussion, too?

Seriously, folks. This thread should be about what its title is about. Can we focus on that, not on whatever lame hijacks are thrown up instead?

If that’s where they started and ended up, sure!

Well I didn’t see the speeches live but I watched them afterwards. While I was duly impressed by the First Lady, I was also wowed by the Keynote Speaker, the San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro. That guy has a bright future ahead of him.

I just watched Michelle Obama’s speech. Great speech, wonderfully delivered. The contrasts with the Romney story were strong. I also loved that Mrs. Obama was introduced by a military mom. As recently as 4 years ago the Republicans worshiped all things military, but in 2012 they hardly mention the military, or foreign policy, or the war.

What really struck me about Michelle’s speech was how pro-American dream it was. If one of her goals was to counter the BS that Barack is secretly anti-American then Michelle hit the World Series winning Grand Slam home run. With a small number of edits the same speech could have been given by Ann Romney - that’s how pro-American ideals that speech was. The problem for the Republicans is that the Dems have A players bringing their A+ game, and the Red Team does not.

I saw this morning that there is a faction trying to draft Betty White to speak at the convention to counter the notion that all seniors are dithering gasbags.

Nothing could go wrong with bringing an elderly celebrity in to speak at a convention at the last minute!
