I get why they do it, but if you’re watching the whole thing, it at some point seems like watching the same speech given by different people.
Speaking of Brit Hume, he made some awkward comment following Michelle Obama’s speech, calling her “impressive” and “attractive.” Creepy. But it got even better when Hume continued that the speech was great, and that the telling of the Obamas’ personal struggles, the beater car and so forth, worked well. Then some clown Bret Baier interrupts with some claptrap about Ann Romney’s canned tuna and ironing board. Oh, come on! I know at Fox you’re paid to cheerlead for the right wing, but even the Fox News crowd isn’t crazy enough to compare Michelle Obama’s upbringing in a working class family on the South side of Chicago to Ann Romney’s fucking ironing board. Just accept that Michelle Obama legitimately grew up with much, much less than anyone in the Romney family. Surely you can find some other angle to shoehorn in how Ann Romney is so much greater than Michelle, because that one just won’t work.
Final bonus point to to Chris Wallace saying the speech’s delivery was fantastic – I mean, read off a teleprompter, sure – but it seemed sincere!
I had to watch Fox, btw. Was at a friend’s house who has some bizarre TV situation where he only gets like three channels, one of which is Fox.
This’ll probably turn out to be the biggest screw-up, if you even want to call it that, of the Dem convention. The GOP will certainly have fun with this for a while, but I personally don’t give a shit.
I don’t care about the wording either way, the sham vote that passed even though it obviously didn’t get enough votes has done a pretty good job of pissing me off though.
Hmmm, been quite a few military veterans supportive of the administration on display so far, both last night and tonight. While it’s clearly calculated, I’ve got to think that some traditional GOP thunder is being stolen here, given the apparent decison to emphasize the economy at the expense of pretty much all other discussion at last week’s show.
Yeah, I know a couple of the right-wingers here are claiming that no one cares about anything but the economy, but one could hardly say otherwise and still support the way the GOP structured their convention presentations. We’ll see.
Can you picture, for a moment, the chaos of 75,000 people, their iPhones and good suits soaking wet, trying to rush out of a stadium while there is a VIP to protect? It takes half an hour at least to get a VIP in and out, and the place is on lockdown the whole time. Can you picture the press if 75,000 people were locked in to a rainy stadium for half an hour, exposed to the weather?
No it wasn’t. It’s been well reported that she wrote it all herself and has been working on it for a month. Barack Obama writes a lot of his own speeches as well.
