I know the teeming masses tend to include some of the more creative and intelligent of our species, so I thought I’d come on to ask if anyone had any fundraising ideas for my We The People team.
First, some background. My high school AP Government/Politics class is participating in a nationwide competition called “We The People: The citizen and the constitution”. In December, we went to the state capitol (Georgia) and made presentations to judges (mostly professors, lawyers, state legislators) in response to certain selected questions about Government and constitutional issues. After our prepared presentation (pretty much a 4 minute essay presentation, the judges tell us which of the 3 questions (we prepare for all of them) we will be presenting), we get grilled for 6 minutes on a variety of free-response questions from the judges about issues pertaining to the main essay topic. We went, we won, and now we’re going to Washington, DC for the National Finals against 50 other states.
Now, about the OP, we need to fundraise about $28,000 in 2 months (the trip to Washington is at the end of April). We’ve decided against standard fundraisers that don’t net much money for a lot of work. Our main focus will be donors and corporate sponsors, but so far, we haven’t had much luck.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to raise that much money in a short amount of time? Maybe someone has some kind of experience with this sort of thing?
