I am currently attempting to restrain myself from advocating nuclear retaliation for the terrorist attacks on our country. I do not know how successfully I will continue to refrain from doing so.
Our country has the forensic ability to find out who has perpetrated this. We are obliged to retaliate with some sort of punitive action. If it is Osama Bin Ladin, he needs to be exterminated like a roach. If Palestein is responsible, we need to seriously consider a full scale take over of the country and complete subjegation of its populace until other controls can be put in place.
Any suggestions? I am far too furious right now to even think straight. Try to remember that in these situations the truth is usually one of the first casualties. However, the United States is obliged to retaliate in an unambiguous and unmistakable fashion so that this never happens again.
My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to all who have suffered a loss in this horriffic crime. Justice will be served. It is quite possible that relatives of one of my co-workers may have been in the Trade Center towers.
If ever there was a time to rescind the laws against cruel and unusual punishment, it is for the perpetrators of this massacre.

I just heard on the news the President moved from Louisiana to Omaha. That’s where Strategic Air Command is. I hope that doesn’t mean what I think it means. We really don’t need to be waving around the nuclear arsenal right now, as upset as this makes me.
I expect every country that brazenly shelters terrorist groups of any kind is going to feel the screws pretty soon; Congress will give the military and intelligence community whatever they want. National outrage will not tolerate anything else.

Well, to be fair to Acco40, he didn’t say anything about killing innocent people. I do believe that the guilty folks should be hunted down, tried, and (if found guilty) punished with extreme prejudice.
Oh Christ. Perhaps this makes me a selfish little coward, I don’t know. I suppose we must retaliate when we find out who did this thing, but I half hope we never do.
All day I have been thinking of my baby brother, far away in New Zealand and probably fast asleep. Safe for now. My students, who are walking around outside among the brick buildings and grassy quads, for on this campus it still looks like an ordinary day, and they are safe for now. I don’t know how I will bring myself to look at their faces tomorrow. If this is war, they are the ones who will have to fight it, and they seem much too young. Hell, yesterday I grumbled about their being too young, too flighty, too much interested in sports and parties. Today I would give anything to keep them that way.
My baby brother, I said. Well – hell. He is twenty-one years old and his choices are his own. If this is war, I believe he will choose to fight, all of the men in our family have made that choice and taken pride in it – but I don’t want him to. I would rather he never came home, just stayed in New Zealand where he can learn about trees and figure out how to save some part of the world for the generations to come, not bloody well destroy it forever. He is a forestry student, but if it comes, God forbid, to a nuclear strike, he may have to study turning forests into deserts. Such a godawful waste. I know; it’s been a waste already. But I don’t want to see any more lives lost, I hardly care whether they are guilty or innocent. Too many already, and it’s just been one terrible day.
Sorry for the incoherence of this post, and may those who have already lost friends and relatives forgive me, but I don’t have the courage to face more death and destruction. And yet if we don’t respond, there will be more. Fuck. Right now I just want to go home and hide.
The best way to encourage more attacks is to leave the leaders behind this unpunished.
If bin Ladin is behind this, he needs to be exterminated.
Leaders who order terror attacks do so knowing that their life is not on the line. We have let smaller attacks go unpunished, or mildly punished. Hell, George Bush let Saddam live, and all he did was invade another country!
But if we do not retaliate against the ones who ordered this atrocity, then any leader in the future will know they can order something like this with impunity.
One problem I see is that an investigation may lead to a country that already doesn’t like the US and will refuse to cooperate, such as Afghanistan, Iran or Iraq. Is it proper to serve an ultimatum? “Let us investigate as we please on your soil, or suck lead?” -I predict lead will be served.
Another is that the actual persons directly responsible are already likely dead. Only the leaders who guided them and made arrangements are still alive, and it may not be proved that they “caused” it by any first-world normal standards of justice. Terrists strike for a cause, and if the cause is for their own people or way of life, then yes, more innocents should die. Their innocents this time though, not anyone else’s. It should be made clear that terrorism is always a small-win/large-loss proposition for the terrorist, and you cannot make terrorists be nice to you by being nice to them. - MC

The US is going to retaliate. In fact they already have. They’re not even sure who the fuck did it, but they’re retaliating. It seems they’re bombing Kabul right now, and i know a lot more people are going to die in Kabul then in New York. A LOT more. And all this even before they have any sort of confirmation. Just because you’re fucking angry doesn’t mean you run around ramsacking a country that you’re not even sure did it or not. Wait. It’s not even the country. It’s a terrorist group from that country. They’re causing more innocent deaths because America wants to see blood and they want it NOW. Frankly as a foreigner, I’m disgusted by this kind of rash action.
The US gave weapons to Israel which has been using them on Palestine. Palestine is therefore happy what happened to the US, this doesn’t mean they did it.

A friend of mine has a cousin who’s a pilot that stationed somewhere in the middle east near Kosovo. He’s was called to base in red alert.
I want blood and a whole lot of it. Islamic blood. The Islamic nations have been hiding terrorists from us for years and being warned about it, even as they take millions from us in aide and some of the terrorists groups have even raised money for themselves right here in the USA. Americans have been very tolerant, giving succor and care to snakes within our own fold, but it’s time America stops being a wussy and discussing everything serious for years before doing anything.
The Sleep Giant went to sleep after WW2, around 1970 and 80, when everyone started getting rich and debating recriminations against nations that screwed us time and time again. In Pakistan, they are cheering the death of our citizens and celebrating in the streets, even though a huge majority of them have benefited from American food, American Medication, American Technology and American political clout. You think Sadaam has not been shoveling cash to terrorists and probably to Bin Ladin, who probably did this.
The spread of the Islamic influence has been nothing but bloody over the last 2 decades as they have enforced their religious rights over everyone else and what other religion would guarantee you a seat in Heaven if you die in a Holy War, taking 192 terrified passengers along with you? They could not have let the passengers off and flown away like other terrorists have done? Somehow, that makes their actions even more despicable. Middle eastern terrorists seem to like doing that. Remember the Olympic Hostages? They seem to feel that the more they kill in a hijack or hostage situation, the more slaves they get to bring to Heaven to serve them.
I say that it is time to bring out the nukes we are not supposed to have and start giving the middle eastern nations a real damn hard line. We fished the Arabs out of the fire in Dessert Storm and their gratitude has been to increase gas prices and dick with our economy. They stopped us from killing Sadaam because he is Muslim and Muslims frown on non-Muslims killing Muslims because even as allies, we were infidels and therefore not really worthy. Just cannon fodder to stop an annoyance.
They want a war, well then, I say give them one. Turn Pakistan and Afghanistan into parking lots and make damn sure that they glow bright enough at night to be seen from the moon! Track those terrorists down and punish anyone which hides them. Make it too dangerous for any nation to hide those SOBs and make them damn sorry that they awakened the Sleeping Giant again! If bush wussys out on this, then get rid of him and put in a guy who will do the job.
