"We will not condone your perversion" (kinda lame OP)

in 2004.

I still hear this and see it online.
Perversion, unnatural.
So much for loving the sinner.

No, he’s not right. Nobody said anything about marriage.

thirdwarning is (as near as I can make out) reading “heterosexual couples” as “married couples,” which is another thing altogether. In fact, it’s clear from context that they are not using “couple” in an unusual way that applies only to married people, since they specify heterosexual couples, and Scotland does not recognize gay marriages, or even (as far as I know) the proposed “civil partnerships” for homosexual couples.

You have an ongoing romantic (or sexual) association with someone? Congratulations, you’re half of a couple.

Try googling for “couples only” sometime and we’ll see just how much of a monopoly we hets have on coupling.

Well, at least no one is celebrating this as a triumph over fake “tolerance” and political correctness.

Ooops. Never mind.

What the blue fuck?

Gay couple offended by bed ban.

Bigoted? Homophobic? Nah, those bent poofs are way too sensitive.

“I performed in the only gay bar in all of Scotland. C.C. Bloom’s. C.C. Bloom was the name of the character that Bette Midler played in Beaches. That is the gayest thing I have ever heard in my entire life. They should just call that place Fuck Me Up The Ass. …bar and grill.”

  • Margaret Cho

Y’know, this might be the first time I’ve heard the term “poof” used to describe a homosexual…

You know, most beds and breakfasts I’ve stayed in have been part of the owners’ home, or an extension to it. I can understand them expecting folks to live within the confines of their (fucked up) morality within their own home. It’s not really comparable, but I don’t allow people to smoke in my home (or on my balcony or outside my door).

I fear that these folks may see an uptick in business because of their asshattedness, from scum who read stuff like John Derbyshire and basically think gay folks done spread germs.

A man’s home is his castle, even if he’s letting guests pay to stay there. I just hope that the Scottish government treats these folks like the plague they are from this point forward.

Andrew Sullivan notes that the National Review post from Derbyshire was at one time much longer than its current, edited form. Interesting.

Not a big Monty Python fan, eh?

In other news, gay porn video makers announced that they would provide their videos only to certifiably straight couples in the future.

“We will pander to the perverted tastes of bent poofs,” said an industry spokesman, “but we will NOT condone them.”

Apparently these nimrod owners are getting messages of congratulations from around the world.

Emailing cromasaig@email.msn.com would be a good way of letting these morons know that not everyone concurs in the congratulations.

For that matter, how do they know people’s sexual orientation? A gay man and a lesbian (who happen to be traveling together) can share a double bed, but two heterosexual men or women (who happen to be traveling together) can’t.

That would be because they don’t particularly care about the sexual orientation per se, they’re more concerned about that ‘unnatural perverted’ sex that can only go on between two members of the same sex.

This place should be used as the Hetero bondage & torture HQ in Scotland. See how they feel about straights running around in leather with whips and what not. Nothing against that in the bible is there

I went to CC Bloom’s in May. Cho’s description pretty much hits the mark.

(Incidentally, there’s at least three other gay pubs/clubs in Edinburgh alone. A few gay B&Bs too, IIRC.)

Still, this sort of reaction would not have been newsworthy (waddyathink?) twenty years ago. Progress is being made.

I don’t think I can rip him a second asshole until I rip him a first one. Not that I’d want to get that close.

Not sure how it works in Scotland, but I’ve been told at every job I’ve worked at here that you can refuse a customer on just about any basis except those identifiable groups specified in the Quebec Constitution (which includes sexual orientation). In other words, refusing gay customers here could result in a lawsuit.

Somehow, I doubt there are similar laws over there.

Not sure why you’re paging me specifically (not that I mind), unless it’s for the whole gay/Scottish-descent thing. I don’t have much to offer in this case, unless it’s a reference to Queen James and his “wife,” George Villiers. I wonder if Mr. Forrest would’ve turned them away from his B&B? :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a crucial difference. Providing differing treatment to different people on the grounds of sexuality is illegal.

It’s pretty much the same, actually.

The last line of the linked article implies that there is no law protecting gays from discriminatory practices:

I know a guy who caught the Gays after staying in a gay hotel room. And it was after the sheets had been changed!

It wasn’t pretty. The last time I saw him he was strutting around in chaps with a feather boa and singing “The Trolly Song.” Pathetic. Utterly pathetic.

Yep Hamish it was your insite into ‘Queen’ James I was hoping for
As an opposite to this in which USA should be proud, 10 years ago as a poor student I crossed USA with my best friend Paz (who is also male). To cut costs we shared motel rooms. We nearly allways had to specifically request separate beds. Paz and I may have looked cute together, but
