I recently purchased a Logitech QuickCam Communicate. The image is fine with the exception of the edges of objects, which appear blocky. Can someone please tell me what settings I need to adjust to blur this affect and give the picture a more natural appearance? Any help is most appreciated. Thanks.
It sounds to me like an image size issue. I can’t think of any reason why just the edges of things would be blocky other than that it might be the edges where this effect shows up the most, but the resolution of the image is the same in all parts of the image.
Most web cams have pretty low resolution and so do best when set to display at relatively small sizes. Try changing the image size to something like 320 X 240 and see if that doesn’t resolve the issue. Many cams also allow you to set the resolution with controls or a slider that say something like “Best image quality” at one end and “Best for low light” at the other end.
It’s supposedly allows for a 640x480 image at 30 frames per second. I thought that sounded relatively good. Perhaps I was expecting too much from the image quality.
Doesn’t anyone know any settings I can change to improve the quality?
I assume you exhausted searching the online support?
I assume you knew you were wasting my time with that answer.
The picture looks grainy. Broken camera, or just the way it is?
If you can post or email a capture from your cam, I will be glad to have a look at it and let you know if it is a typical web cam image or if there is something wrong with it.
