Help!! My one year wedding anniversary is this Thursday, the 27th. My husband will be in Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday, and is coming home late Thursday night.
What I’d like to do is send a gift to his hotel room on Wednesday night. My problem is that I have no clue what to send. Of course, waiting until the last minute doesn’t help much. I have a call into my hubby’s boss, who is also a good friend, to let me know the hotel he’ll be in. (Hey, he travels A LOT and I never bother with details such as the hotel he stays in.) I plan to call their concierge for ideas, but in the meantime, I thought I’d pick your brains.
I thought of breakfast, but I don’t know when he is leaving the hotel for the day. I can’t send flowers because then he’d have to lug them home on the airplane. Same with a fruit or gift basket. I’d send him a bottle of wine, but then is he supposed to drink it alone? Also, part of the problem is that he usually stays in a “business traveler” type hotel, so no massages or generous room service for him.
How about getting tickets to something you both would like to go see when he gets home? Send a “gift certificate” on fancy paper (this is the paper anniversiary, right?) detailing the ways you two can spend that day celebrating your first year.
Thanks brachy! That really is a good idea. I could fax something over and have them put it into his room. Now, I just need to find something for us to do!!!
I’m also condering buying about 20 balloons and having them put into his bathroom or something. While I know he wouldn’t be able to bring them home, I think he’d get a kick out of it.
Well… If you shop fast, you can also FedEx him a pair of silk boxers, with instructions to wear them when he comes home Thurs. night. He can wear them on the plane & think of you all the way home!
I’d do the balloon thing if he’s away on his birthday - it’s such a fun cheerer-upper!
