Officially, so people wouldn’t get as wasted. Kinda like a prohibition-light, since they did allow sales of stronger stuff, which people then drank aplenty.
Otoh; sailors, flight-people and persons travelling overseas were allowed to bring beer into the country, wich made for a pretty good black market. Not that I would know anything about that, since I was 10 when they allowed it.
But hey! Where did you get a real fact about Iceland from!?! You’re making me confused

A few are ones I expect to be popular answers, like Budweiser, the Belgian is a personal favorite because there’s just too damned many good ones to even begin to guess what others would choose, and a few (Spanish, French) were the result of some significant googling, because for the life of me, I cannot recall ever drinking a Spanish or French beer.

Why France but not Mexico?
What? Red Stripe is great - it’s peanuts and beer in one
(and it was the cheapest beer they had at one of my college hang outs)
I’ve got problems with beer that tastes like it’s had formaldehyde added to it.
Now, it may be that the export version is more palatable than what you can get on Jamaica and I’m being horribly unfair.
Probably not. Like I said, it was the cheapest beer available, tasted like peanuts, and it was in college
I haven’t had tried it in 5 years and really don’t want to spoil all the beautiful memories
