Weekly Comic Book Discussion 3/17/2005

On the other hand, if he is a Norse god, he just might be arrogant enough, and out of touch enough with mortal mindframes, to think that the truth is so obvious that to NOT believe him is lunacy.

There is, of course, a quick way to determine the result. Take off the breastplate, shown to be part of the ‘power armor’. If still superstrong, then Loki is screwing around.

Invincible #19 or so. Good, but transitional.

That would be in character for the mainstream Marvel Thor, but this particular Thor seems to exude folk-wisdom like some superpowered mix of Che Guevera and Rousseau. It’s only when the topic of the Norse gods and his own divinity come up that he seems to totally change character and talk in a different tone. To me, that suggests insanity. Of course, it’s a freaking comic book  so who the hell knows?
I just wish, for once, they would go with the resolution that DOES make sense, even if it’s disappointing, and make him a looney toon.

Adventurers of Superman: cute. I mean Lara was cute. The rest of the issue I could have lived without.

Teen Titans: very cool. Menocchio beat me to the quote which was awesome.

Ultimates 2: I believe that Thor is telling the truth. This story arc, the archvillian is Loki.

Ultimate Nightmare: Vision is the new “herald”? I know they mentioned Ultron previously with Hank Pym. They could have kept vision with Ultron. Captain America with an assault rifle is wrong. I’ve missed about a decade and a half (or more) on Cap’s development, but…

Captain America #1: Yeah, like we’ve seen the last of him.

Space Ghost: Nice to see him becoming more heroic. Looking forward to the end and to the end of The Question

Teen Titans: Good stuff. Very good. And I never much liked the group.

Did you miss the part where the Ultimate universe is totally separate from the mainstream Marvel universe and the characters in it are not the same people?
