Weekly Comic Book Discussion 5/10/2006

WAY too soon. Plus, he’s talking to folks amongst the crowd, who ought to be able to say “Hey, that’s Nightwing’s costume, but that’s not him.”

Why is it way too soon? The replacement has been most likely keeping tabs on the Bat Family. The replacement has been trained by the best, so such deception isn’t that hard; considering a. the ‘real’ Nightwing had gotten the crap blown out of him during the crisis, so that could explain any ‘offness’ that’s there, and b. everyone’s not on their best game and focused on other things considering what just happened.

It would be the perfect time to pull a switch…

YMMV… of course.

Nightwing’s Outsider companions are there. Teen Titans too. The real Nightwing took a blast to the chest. This wouldn’t explain the different face. And as far as everyone knows, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the others are still around, until Booster’s moment of crisis.

Well in IC, it looks like his face is busted up pretty good too…still I would expect one trained as the replacement was, could use a little putty…

A difference of opinion then.

Was it the Time Trapper? I thought it was Extant and/or Monarch and/or Parallax during Zero Hour. She’d shown up in that other Titans book (Team Titans?) with no explaination I’d thought it was one of the Zero Hour baddies. But then, I never quite understood Zero Hour anyway*, so it’s entirely possible I’m wrong…

Fenris:

The other Team Titans were Monarch/Extant’s agents, I think that Mirage and Terra were taken from the present and planted by the Time Trapper amongst the Team Titans to oppose Extant. That’s why the two of them remained in existence after Zero Hour, and the others didn’t. IIRC.

I’ve been slacking. Here’s two week’s worth of comics which I read when they came out, but didn’t get around to gabbing about (though I have been read your gabbage  ):

Supes/Bats #1: My only Free Comic Book Day acquistion. I really gotta get the TPB of the first arc now. After reading that and Rucka’s first issue of Supergirl (again: WTF?) I’m really missing Loeb as a DC scribe. Damn is he good.

Action Comics #838/Superman #652: Excellent. They’re really nailing the characters. One question: Doesn’t Lex know that Clark is Supes? I thought he discovered that during his term in office, or so says Rucka in an issue of Adventures of Superman during the Ruin arc. Maybe being close to Alexander Luthor scrambled that memory.

JSA #85: Nice to see Jade again (stupid, stupid character death). Apparently PG is royalty again.

She-Hulk #7: She-Hulk SMASH! Wolfian winces! Loved the Super Mario 3 cameo. Damnit, the art’s starting the grow on me.

52 #1: I’m hooked.

Firestorm #25: Batman is a dick, but Jason apparently likes it. Glad they aren’t dragging the quest for Stein out or I should say that they aren’t dragging out the beginning of it. Was that who I thought it was with Marty? What does he want with a nuclear physist?

Lex Luthor crossed a telepath, Manchester Black, and that memory was erased in revenge.

If not that, then Time Punch!

Continuity errors make me so mad, I just want to PUNCH REALITY IN THE FACE!!!
