Weekly Comic Book Discussion 8/14/2008

Here it is. A really excellent week for me - Booster Gold, Wonder Woman, Action, Batman, Final Crisis : Revelations… hell, even Secret Invasion was passable.

I liked this issue of Secret Invasion…especially Clint’s reaction at the end. When he saw that you-know-who was a Skrull, he didn’t hesitate or emote, he just grabbed the submachine gun and went to town.

Who was a Skrull?

Mockingbird.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Wonder Woman - Sarge has completely lost it, obviously. The scene with Donna and Tom was cute. Wondie dragging D’grth back to be dealt with was awesome, too. ‘Hush.’

Batman - Speaking of completely lost it… I don’t know why people think it’s so confusing, but, oh, well.

Transhuman - Oh, those monkey scamps. >_> Tim misspelt buttsecks, though. It’s pretty obvious now, why ChimeraCorp came up second.

Galaxy Quest - Oh, glee! I <3 that movie, it’s lovely to have it back. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if there was a back-up story of the show-within-a-show Galaxy Quest.

Gen13 - Yay! They’re back! Hope the events of the Armageddon issue can be avoided…

Transformers: Animated - the Arrival - I almost skipped this, because I’d heard the TFA comic was going to be just screencaps from the actual cartoon…I’m glad I heard that it wasn’t, because I’d have hated to miss this issue.

Action - Hee…Koko. The conversation between Cat and Kara was awesome. In a cruel way, but awesome.

Thanks.

Actually, the entire '70s crew was.

Wonder Woman #23 - I liked the bits back home with Donna far more than the rest of this story arc. There are a whole bunch of untouched plotpoints – e.g., Hippolyta, Diana’s deal with her new godly patron – that need to be touched on, too.

FC: Revelations #1 - Interesting enough to keep on with, but really didn’t like how the Question is pictured here.

Action Comics #868 - Far more interesting than what is going on over in Superman nowadays, and the Kara here is a 100% improvement over what is in the Supergirl book, too.

Booster Gold #11 - Heh. Loved the mothmobile, the mothcopter, the mothdirigible (?)… and Alfred kicking butt.

GL Corps # 27 - Um, I thought that Oa was now encased by a huge lantern-shaped fortification? So how did that Sinestro corpsman get close enough to the surface to do that, without being noticed?
