No, she’s one very COOL lady. At least in my view.
Honestly everyone she weighs like 350 pounds. This surgery might help but she is still gonna be fat. She will never be skinny. This has nothing to do with personal issues the women is fat god.

No, I’m not junior modding, just that, because you’re kinda new, I’m letting you know that this kind of stuff is not taken kindly. You know damn well, because I’ve shown you enough before and afters, that people even fatter than me have lost all of their excess weight with this surgery. And just in case you didn’t realize it, Guin and Ginger are both perfectly aware of just how “queen of fat” I am.

Thanks for the back up, and damn you look good! But the fact is, she knows the stats. She’s seen before and afters of people in my size range and even larger (in fact, I’m 320, which I just told her last week. Either she has no head for numbers, or she’s being deliberately mean-spirited; pick one). She’s met the now-thin-by-anyone’s-standards OpalCat in person. Fact is, she knows she’s spewing. And I know why she’s doing it, but I’m not going to drag the family’s dirty laundry onto the boards now that she’s a member.
I can show the same stuff, except I’m at work at the moment. I’ll post before and after tonight…

That’s OK, norinew. It just chaps my hide when people spout off biased & totally baseless information about a surgery that can and has improved so many lives.
And thanks for the compliments. The smaller size is an added feature; I’d have this surgery every day of the week for the rest of my life even if I NEVER lost a pound - as long as I could feel as good as I do right now.

Now that you and your mom are both members of this board, you’ll need to keep any personal problems between the two of you off-board. The SDMB isn’t meant to provide you (or anyone) with a platform to take shots at other members–regardless of family connection. If you can’t resist taking shots at norinew, perhaps it’s wiser for you to avoid her threads. If this happens again, you will be warned.
I know exactly what you mean. It seems like weight loss surgery is a lot like pregnancy in that, once you anounce it, people feel free to throw out the most horrific things they can! If I hear one more time about some guy whose father-in-laws ex-wife’s niece had the surgery, and they screwed up, and now she’s fifty pounds heavier than ever before, plus they ended up putting her toenails in esophagus and it costs her a fortune to get a pedicure. . .I’m gonna puke!
