OK, so it’s been a weird few days, and I felt like saying so. To wit:
[ul][li]Saturday night I met a really, really great guy and ended up spending the night (playing Tiddlywinks, yeah, that’s it ;)).[/li][li]Tuesday morning as I’m pulling into my parking space, I hear a “Pop! Sssssssssssss…” Sure enough, my tire had blown out, but at least it happened in a most convenient place. The campus AAA guys came along and put the donut on for me at lunchtime.[/li][li]Just as well - I had plans with the new boi to go to the movies, so I limped the very short distance to his house on the donut, had dinner and saw “The Iron Ladies” (FAB movie, go see it if you can!), and spent the night (playing Tiddlywinks, yeah, that’s it ;)). This was a good thing, 'cause I didn’t have to drive all the way home on a donut and worry about getting a new tire and miss the movie. It was also unusual - I very, very rarely spend the night over someone else’s house on a school night. In this case, however, it worked in my favor, distance-to-work-wise.[/li][li]Went to work Wednesday dressed as a California surfer dude. T’was quite amusing, even won our little office contest.[/li][li]Bought a new tire close by work, so didn’t have to drive all the way home. Got a pretty good deal, too - much less than I expected to pay.[/li][li]Got home Wednesday night, the boi calls and says he has a cold, and, sure enough, by the time I get off the phone with him I’m starting to feel sick, so I go to bed early hoping to fend it off.[/li][li]Nope - called in sick Thursday. Slept through most of it.[/li][li]Still not feeling well Friday, so called off again sick.[/li][li]Just as I’m waking up I get a phone call from the employment service - my boss called them and said they wouldn’t be needing me anymore. Fearing it had to do with me calling out a couple days sick, the agency called and found out, no, it had nothing to do with that - the person I was temping for is coming back, but they said very positive things about me and my work there, just a bad timing thing. The agency said they didn’t have anything right off the bat, but ought to have something for me Monday or Tuesday. <fingers crossed>[/li][li]Finally solved my car insurance questions, so I can get my registration and be done with that little annoyance.[/li][li]New boi went to NYC for a couple of days, and I’m discovering I’m missing him. Oh, boy… :([/li][li]I had a meeting with a guy who wants me to be involved in a foreign student English language institute he’s developing in the area which caters to the LGBT community overseas - it’s all very interesting, and there’s a big meeting Saturday morning to discuss, where I’ll find out more info and decide if I want to devote time to this.[/li][li]I went to the DMV and got my California driver’s license.[/ul][/li]
I dunno, it all seems kinda weird. Wanted to share. How mundane and pointless can you get?
Take care of your cold! I got one, gave it to Russ as well. Probably gave it to everyone at WDIG too. Get some rest, the both of you!
Sorry about the job. You’re the ump-teenth person I know who’s temporarily out of work as of this week. Next week I should be, but I’m looking forward to it. If they do give us our severance packages then I will finally have some time off. But I hope you pick something up quickly, being unemployed is such a drag.
Actually, by the time I got back from getting my driver’s license, they said they got a last-minute call for a job, so I’ll call them first thing Monday and find out what’s going on.
I might also be getting heavily involved in an overseas/Asian cross-cultural ESL language course doing some event and excursion planning. Time will tell, but had a meeting today and it sounds interesting…
[ul][li]Feeling better, but still not quite 100% - dang cough keeps hanging on.[/li][li]Got me a job starting again tomorrow back on campus, which is good timing as I needed a few days to get feeling better. (This one might go permanent!)[/li][li]Transferred my car insurance out here - big check, but glad it’s over with.[/li][li]Went out again with the new boy. :)[/li][li]Figured out what my limits are with this ESL program (now I gotta stick to them).[/li][li]Two good friends coming into town this week, which I’m really looking forward to. Even going to Disneyland with one of 'em - woo hoo! [/ul][/li]
I think that’s it.
Jeez, you guys don’t have e-mail or something? Esprix, I’m not sure it was such a great idea to let a bunch of recovering alcoholics put a donut on for you (unless “putting a donut on” is some kind of code for deviant sexual behavior, in which case, congratulations!). You know how their hands shake when they’ve only been off the sauce for a few days. I only bring it up because I worry about you so.
Like I said, it’s the only way I can keep track of him. Besides, this is better than email because other people can put in their two bits.
I got a part in the show! My ballet teacher wants me to be in her choreography. Way… I was expecting only to do technical stuff this time.
I took two ballet classes today. I did really well considering I haven’t danced pointe in almost a month. We had one combo where I had to do an arabesque turn into an inside turn into a piroette into a fuete turn. I managed to actually do that a couple times from both the left and right. That’s pretty good for me on pointe. There were a bunch of other things that I did better than normal too. I’m so stoked. Maybe I just needed a rest, but whatever happened I’m doing better!
