So, I had a bunch of teas I had purchased to try. Mostly flavored black teas, but high end loose leaf, with actual bits of dried fruit in them. The ones I liked were gone and I was left with a group that didn’t really appeal to me.
Then one of the homies brought two jars of really nice green tea, which also was not getting the love it deserved in our household. So after deciding better to try than let it all go bad, I mixed it together into a fruit salad conglomeration which was good enough that it became my regular morning tea.
So far, so good. It was not my all-time favorite, but it was good, and I was getting the daily green tea that my doctor said would be good for me. Good, good, good.
Then last week I had a cup of spiced herbal tea in the afternoon. And I thought, you know, these spices would really make my morning tea taste better, I should add some. So I did. I added healthy doses of cinnamon and ground ginger, with smaller amounts of allspice and cloves.
And now my tea tastes like: nothing. Hot water. No flavor or smell whatsoever. I added enough cinnamon that I can see it in the spoon when I scoop it out.
So, WTF has happened here? I feel like there’s some sort of frequency cancellation going on, like sound canceling headphones. I go through spices pretty quickly, so they were not old or anything.
