My SIL has a painting, that she got at a yard sale years ago.
It has always fascinated me (I’ll try to post a pic). It shows a man and a woman in the country, having a picnic (there is a blanket on the ground, spread with foods). The woman is sitting down, the man is standing (and playing a flute)-in between them, is a goat! The goat seems passively interested in the music.
Has anyone ever seen a picture like this?
It is obviously an allegory of some sort, but of what??
The goat could be a reference to the Greek God Pan. Can’t really tell without looking at the painting, but that would be my first idea.
