Weird phishing email

Just got an email asking me to update my credit card for my nonexistent Amazon Prime account. Mouseover reveals that it originated from some random address in the UK. So, obvious phish is obvious.

The weird thing, though, is that when I opened my inbox, that message was already unbolded, as though I’d read it before, which I definitely didn’t. Anyone have any idea what’s up with that? Cause for concern?

Without you mentioning what device, OS, mail app (or website) you use, it’s kind of hard for us to offer any useful answers.

Yes, your email account may be hacked by someone else, not related to the phishing email, and they are reading your emails, but forgot to change it to “unread” status before you got into your inbox.

Laptop, Windows 11, Yahoo mail.

Man, they must be bored. That’s a good thought, though, I should probably change my password.
