Weird question for graphic designers...

or advertising people or any other “artsy” people.

I am designing an ad campaign for a school project (MBA program in marketing communication), and I am wondering if there are font styles that convey certain meanings.

Our positioning is “reliability” or “trustworthiness”

Does anyone know of a site or book or anything that gives some guidance on this sort of thing (or does anyone have any ideas off the top of their head)?

I’ve done several searches and have come up empty.

Thanks for any help!

I believe that site is what you’re looking for.

This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but Kate suggests that when in doubt, you should stick with Times New Roman, even though it’s pretty boring, and ugly as hell on the web.

Yes, I am awesome.

Man, I love this board! One hour and I’ve got what I need.

Thanks MsWhatsit and ** black455**!

Off the top of my head: Franklin Gothic for the headlines. For a book recommendation, try Stop Stealing Sheep by Erik Spiekermann & E.M. Ginger. It’s similar to the Type Palettes web site - lots of examples. Some people on Amazon complain that it’s too basic, but hey, everybody is a beginner at some time.
