Weird re-direct when I try to access the IRS website.

I’m trying to go to www.irs.gov so I can print out a current W-4 form for new employees. In the address field of my browser, I type in “http://www.irs.gov” and hit ENTER. (without the quotie marks, of course)

Nothing unusual there, right? I’ve done it like that a hundred times without a problem.

Today, I’m being re-directed to www.gov.org. That’s what the webpage says. In the address field, though, this is what I find:

http://www.www.irs.gov.org/…”

If I re-type the correct address, my browser gives me the old “Page cannot be displayed” crap.

I’ve tried clicking every link labelled “IRS” I find on that page, but the only results I get are further links to tax software sites. I don’t need to do my taxes. All I want is to print out a nice clean copy of a W-4.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Justed tested http://www.irs.gov/ using Firefox 2x.

No problems.

Sounds like your browser has been hijacked by spyware, or something. Are you using IE?

I have been having problems with being unable to resolve URLs for the past few weeks, causing me to have to make several attempts at getting to sites. I did read about an increase in DDOS-type attacks on DNS servers. I chalked it up to that.

No DDOS at the server end; you almost certainly have spyware/adware installed which is forcing you to their advertising sites.
