Back in 2016 I needed to repair our electric stove and purchased a multimeter like this. I used it on the stove and put it away. Apparently I put it somewhere very safe, because I’ve never seen it again. All my tools are kept in a storage area the size of a walk-in closet, so not hard to search. Nothing.
Several years ago I bought a pair of boots on sale in the Spring. When I wanted to wear them that Fall, they were not in the shoe closet. Or any closet. Or anywhere else in the house (and I searched more than once). I think they were still in the original box which was pretty big (they were knee high boots) which would be hard to overlook. But even if they weren’t, especially if they weren’t, they would have been stored in a closet. Maybe someday they will reappear.
Open whatever covers or panels in the stove that you opened.
Look inside.
Awwwww! Does he remember which one is Beep Beep and which one is Other Beep Beep?
We managed to keep the spare Bunnies hidden, except for one time where he found one and announced proudly “I have TWO bunnies!!”. We managed to spirit that spare away after a couple days. Another time, I was holding a spare, when he came into the kitchen carrying the current main bunny. I slam-dunked the one I was holding into a large soup pot on the stove. Fortunately, that pot was empty and clean!
He was carrying Bunny, and another toy (Tiger Kitten) to preschool every day when he was about 4. His teacher had been going to try to dissuade him from doing so… but the day he fell on the playground, breaking one army rather badly, she told me she was glad she hadn’t yet done so - Bunny and TK accompanied him into the operating room and were with him when he woke up afterward.
Bunny came from San Francisco Music Box Company. I bought it for Dweezil when he was 16 months old, for Christmas - and it immediately became his lovey. A month or so later, Bunny was at ground zero when the kiddo returned his lunch. I asked my husband to stop at the mall to pick up a replacement. He did so, and mentioned to the staff why he needed it. They insisted “90 day warranty on anything”. He tried arguing that the product was in NO way defective. But they insisted we bring it in and they’d exchange it for free. So we did, the next day, with Bunny sealed in a plastic bag, strong urging them to NOT open the bag. So… free replacement (but we bought 2 more in addition). I miss that company!
Moon Unit had a soft doll from Discovery Toys - which became her lovey at a similar age (16 months). I was able to buy several spares of that as well. IIRC, she never found the spare, though one day Dolly’s worn-out fabric was mysteriously repaired.
Yes! I came in here to post about how I have lost MY Javanese gong stand!
Not weird, but recent.
I have an Anker portable USB battery that I take with me in my laptop case. I keep two short charging cables (micro USB and USB-C) in the bag with the unit. I liked it so well that I bought an identical unit for my wife about two years ago.
Two weeks ago, my wife and I went on a trip to CT. Last week, I needed to go to FL and so I went to get my unit out of my laptop bag to charge it prior to my flight. Couldn’t find it. Checked every pocket and actually ran my hand through every section in a vain attempt to locate it. Frustrated, I asked my wife if I could borrow hers for the trip.
You guessed it. When I got back a couple days later, I pulled her unit out to return it to her…but it had cables in the carrying bag. It was actually my original unit. Her unit was UNDERNEATH it in the storage pocket. I still have no idea. I hadn’t used either one on my recent trip.
Not weird, per se, but we went on a big vacation 20 years ago and locked a lot of valuables including computers in a closet that had a deadbolt. My wife hid the key… Come home 2 weeks later and it is nowhere to be seen. We never found it even 15 years later when we moved out. Luckily I have plenty of tools so I managed to drill the deadbolt out without damaging the door. There was some rancor.
