Maybe he just wants to sing along?
My best bud had a cat that would sit on the bathroom countertop whenever he showered. When he emerged, she’d jump to his shoulders, then lie on his head with her 4 paws hanging off. He’d walk around wearing this cat-hat, then she’d climb down after a few minutes. Maybe she liked the feel of his wet hair on her belly?
This thread doesn’t have nearly enough photos for so many posts about cats.
Here’s my two, Allie is the Siamese on the left (female, about 13) and Buddy is the orange on the right (male, about 7):
We also have a white dove named Misty, but she doesn’t have all that much personality, really.
We put the food and water bowls on boot trays to contain spills; our cat Cocoa insists on dragging the trays a foot or so away from the wall.
Not recent, the big one has gotten bigger in the last 6 months but we think he’s only got a couple of inches left to go now.
No raccoon. Possibly some polar bear.
I’m convinced Molly sometimes does the same. I’ve seen her carry a toy through two or three rooms, meowing the while, before she puts it down. I think it’s part of her process of deciding where to finally put it.
You can see a typical example of this at the begining of my video.
Our new (to us) dog Lucy has an odd habit when taken out for her morning potty break. She insists on selecting a suitable stick from the yard and carrying it with her. Once she finally finds the perfect spot, she drops the stick in front of her paws and sniffs it while pooping.
I told my wife it’s the dog version of reading a newspaper on the toilet.
Weird new thing Simi is doing. My gf is on a trip with her mom. Ever since she left, Simi is pulling a blanket that has always been folded and placed on the top of the couch. He pulls the blanket down and relaxes on it. I fold and replace it, he immediately pulls it down. I give up.
On the bright side, she’s returning soon.
My dog Lola watches TV if there are animals on it. She growls at large cats like leopards and tigers and lions (oh my!) But the weirdest thing she does is smell your breath after you’ve eaten. Like she wants to find out what you ate! She never licks people either! She’ll lick herself, and she’ll lick food off your finger, but she never happily licks your face.
She’s the best girl ever! She turns three in April.
Maybe not weird, but consistent:
My bigger dog runs down the hall and gets in his crate whenever I sneeze. (He sleeps in his crate at night.) He does not do this when my wife sneezes.
Both of our dogs will jump up and go out to our backyard through their dog door as soon as the end credits start playing on a TV episode or movie. They know that they are supposed to go outside to take care of business right before we go to bed and they have somehow figured out when episodes and movies are ending. We can’t tell what triggers this…rolling credits, title music, or some subtle cues from us. It amuses our guests to no end. One dog will be asleep on the couch and one will be on the floor and ZOOM!..out the door when the screen fades to black and credits start. If we are watching more than one episode of a series, they will do it at the end of each one.
Moki does “the flop”, where I’m sitting back in the recliner with one knee up, and she’ll dive over the knee so she ends up under it on her back. I pin her there and she just takes a snooze.
A boxer we had years ago had a stuffed monkey toy that would make monkey noises when it was shaken or dropped. We called it Mr. Monkey. He loved it and would carry it around and whine the whole time he had it in his mouth. It was almost like he thought it was his baby. He would even take it outside when he went out to go potty. Sometimes he’d drop it and then come to the door. I’d say, “what did you do with Mr. Monkey?” He’d frantically run to grab it and bring it in.
The boxer we have now has been dubbed The Most Annoying Dog We’ve Ever Had. If I’m doing anything other than sitting on the couch with him, he does the usual boxer “kidney bean” where he practically bends himself in half, wiggling the whole time and makes a noise that drives us up a wall. He sounds just like Chewbacca. He wants me to cuddle with him on the couch and he doesn’t stop until I sit on the couch with him.
One of my cats kneads with front and back paws while moving backwards. Usually while on the end of my bed. And he ends up on top of my legs or feet kneading with his back paws which feels good like a mini massage. And his front paws are trying to shred the blanket. This goes on for long time nearly 20 minutes.
When we brought Simi home from the Caribbean, he immediately became enamored of a blue stuffed fish. The thing is, that was Kali’s favorite toy and Kali had recently died. The other dogs ignored the toy, but to this day Simi likes to carry it around.
Initially it made my gf cry, but we’ve accepted his weird attachment.
Oh, Lordie, Lordie, @pullin, that got a head-thrown-back guffaw!
Maybe the blankie has your gf’s scent on it and he’s assuaging his missing her by snuggling into it?
If it was Kizzy doing this (the dog in the background) I’d agree. Kizzy misses my gf something awful. She loves her. She has been laying on our bed with her head on my gf’s pillow. Simi prefers hanging out with me and isn’t acting any different.
I guess I’ll see what happens tonight when gf arrives home. For some reason I thought she would be gone a few more days, but I just got a text that their flight is on time and she’s see me later today.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere there is a cat which I’ve taken to calling Smudge who comes up on my deck to get fed. My cat Rascal will watch him through the glass door in the living room. Then when Smudge has finished eating and heads for the stairs to leave Rascal will dash into my office, which has a glass door overlooking the back of the deck where the stairs are, and paw frantically at the glass until Smudge has left
But that’s not the strangest thing Lately during the day Rascal has started coming into the office and looking at the top of the stairs, as if he’s waiting for Smudge to come back.
