When I was younger (I’m 20 now). I had watched a news story on a Japanese log festival of sorts. It seemed it was a pretty popular event, due the large crowd that it drawed. In this festival, participants would sit on a huge friggin log and ride it down a hill. This log does not remain on its straight path as do many things that roll down hills. The people on the log usually get rolled over, some are killed. They have this festival every so often. I have scoured the internet trying to find what it is…and some video clips to prove to my less than cultured comrades that it actually does exist. I hope to find someone whose resouces are much more vast than my own, so I turn to you to help me in my quest. I have sent this question to cecil, but he is a busy man and I doubt he will find this interesting enough to devote a lot of time to.
The festival is called Ombashira. There is a picture. I couldn’t find any video, but I have seen it on television.
